Why wouldn't it tolerate Outlook or ACT?

Outlook is running in the background as I type this on my G4. ACT is running on all of our Sales Gerbil's (macintosh) computers.

Although I prefer a nice little app called Consultant for contact management. But that's just me.

Every two years we see these articles about the big Apple comeback built around some gimmicky computer. The fact is that the comic book reading/ radio shack shopping population is in decline, and so is Apple. Perhaps for their next gimmick they could make computers shaped like Dungeons & Dragons characters to expand their user base by 10-50K.

An UPS can do wonders for stability sometimes. :-)

Yes. Yes it can... = )

hmmm.... now all I need is someone to come up with an internal UPS, to keep my work environment aesthetically pleasing.

D&D again, RK?

Dang, man, once you get a line, you stick with it!

He hates Macintosh and Dungeons and Dragons. Must be an accountant or an evangelical minister.

Can't we all just get along?

"But Apple sold more than 125,000 iPod music players in its first two months on the market and said demand for the new iMac is exceeding its own expectations. Profits came in at $38 million, or 11 cents a share,"

Rodney, I don't know how to break this to you, but it may be time to re-think the old 'PCP before lunch' routine...

Praytell, how many OTHER box-makers turned a profit in the last quarter???

Yeah, it P.O.'d some people on the last thread, so I figured I would go for aan encore.

On another note: I am in the market for a laptop (no, I am not considering a Mac) and I have the following problem:

I can't stand the little touch pads that control the cursor. I like the stick thingy on the ThinkPads, but those are outrageously expensive.

Does anyone else make a laptop with the stick thingy? Or how about a whole other way to control the cursor?

Give it time. I am sure that they capitalized all sorts of costs that should have been expensed, making the sale of each box appear to be more profitable. Besides, at 125,000 sold already, they only have about 10,000 customers left to sell one to.

As an IS manager and heavy home user I have a pretty wide view of both Mac and Wintel PC's.

Overall my preference is the Windows systems for several reasons.

1. You can get more software titles with Windows than with Apple. That includes games and business software.
2. You have more upgrade options with Intel based systems. (For those of us that like to tinker that is a big deal. All three of the systems at my house are home built.)
3. Saturation. Windows based systems sit on more desktops than Mac's. Windows users are comfortable with them.
4. The Cube. The biggest disappointment I have ever seen/bought/used. I swear I can walk within 20 feet of a cube and it will crash. (Must be all that Wintell Karma freaking with the Mac Mojo.) Had one in my office that would cycle itself on and off damn near every time I breathed.
5. The Colors. Spray Paint is cheaper. I mean If I want my pc blueberry blue I can spend $1.19 on a can of spray paint rather than spend an extra $500.00 for the luxury of color.... and the PC's skin can take it.
6. Any moron can run a system of Mac's. That would put this moron with way too much training out of a job. That's a bad thing. :)

Nothing at all against Apple. When I can; purchase equipment for the same price as I can for my pc, or I can use the same case to upgrade motherboards, processors etc..., put any video card in, purchase any game or productivity software I want... When I can do all of that I might just buy an Apple. But by then would it really be an Apple?

"These OS neener neener flame posts and wars are beyond stupid. I wish the moderators would ban and delete them immediately on sight, and ban the posters if they persisted."

I would like to second your motion.
All in favor?

I use a mac at home because that is the computer I know how to maintain well. At the same time, I can say with out a doubt, that Microsoft has made the best software that I have ever used. Their failures have been far outweighed by their successes.

But I'm no arm-chair CEO, when it comes down to it, I don't care how these companies are run because I know that someone will step up to fill in the void of user demand. I hold no allegiances or devotion to a plastic box of silicon. I just use it.

Many of these posts exist just to chaff someone's hide.

THAT DOESN'T MATTER!!!

APPLE IS DEAD, I TELL YOU!!! DEAD DEAD DEAD

Cut the above message, repeat every 2-3 years, as needed.

Sprinkle with anecdotes of code writing and computer building, and watch the fun grow!

Mr. Thorne's Do-It-Yourself WinTel kit. Just add vitriol.

mmmm. No Mac's. Well, I'd suggest one of the WinTel laptops that look just like the Titanium PowerBook, only without the pesky drives and ports and stuff...

Those are rEEEEEEally cool...

Tough to use a mouse while sitting on an airplane or any other situation where there is no table or desk.

Thought I saw an announcement by somebody about a fingertip mouse. Basically it slipped on the end of your finger and you could use it on any surface.

Don't remember who makes it or where I saw it.

I love these Apple threads.

They always bring out all of the WinSheep so we can all see their herd mentality, techno-socialistic, everything else but windows sucks stupidity.

How can they be so smart on politics, and stupid on personal computing?

But... but... but... wouldn't posting remarks like the one above on a Macintosh related thread be considered to be a 'chafing' post??

And just to insure that there is no pesky double standard issue, I guess you posted how you would like to end OS related threads, on the plethora of Pro Winbloze threads posted here daily too, right???

Thanks. I just saw that Toshiba has the finger stick things on some laptops but they are all 2-500 dollars more than the dell's and the gateway's once you factor in that they don't come with Office.

The iMac is but a toy, for fairies and Democrats. Real men and Republicans use Wintel.

No they don't.
