Students are adults. If they choose to miss a class and miss note-taking, then they will suffer the consequences when homework and testing come along. No student should be punished because they choose not to attend class. If they're not self-motivated to be responsible, then eventually they will flunk out. No loss. Teachers--er, excuse me, professors--should butt out. I also think the university should look at the political and social leanings of its faculty. Anyone who is a pro-abortion advocate should be fired.

No student should be punished because they choose not to attend class. When I was in law school, teachers took roll. If we missed X number of classes, we flunked the course. If you sign up to take a professor's class, you should be willing to obey his rules. I agree with grumpster and sinkspur; count it as an unexcused absence.

I can't recall any consequenses from missing classes other than not learning what was taught that day. Are these professsors punishing students for missing class, or attending a pro life rally. It sounds like the latter, which also sounds like a violation of the students rights.
