Since you seem to know about this stuff, can you confirm whether Catholic schools allow their students any time off at all, for anything? Don't some observe certain holy days, for instance?
I really have to wonder why they would even bother if faith is playing a secondary role in the education of Catholic students.

I am curious if there will be a change in policy resulting from this incident, or whether the same thing might happen again...

It's interesting to learn that you believe that faith has a place in (at least some) Catholic schools, but attendance is most important.Faith has a place in Catholic colleges, certainly.
But I send my two boys to college to go to school, not march, unless they do it on non-school days.
If they want to pay for their own education, (which they're NOT doing), then they can do whatever the hell they want.

Some Catholic Highschools are pretty much empty on the date of the March for Life because so many kids go with the school to DC. It is interesting that Villanova professors would go as far as to punish students for trying the attend the biggest pro-life event of the entire year and continue attending the yearly event.

Great school, but her religious studies professor is a liberal Jewish lady who is openly anti-Christian!I went to Santa Clara. Is the teacher you referring to actually a nun? Santa Clara could be a totally secular experience for some, unless you seek out a more religious experience.

The rest is dependent on the school. My son goes to a conservative Catholic school. They attend mass once a week, have religion class every day, and do a host of other activities related to our faith.
I think this story just highlights the need for reform within our schools and church. There is a group of Catholics who have really replaced catholicism with liberalism. They don't really practice true Christianity, but because of the shortage of vocations were able to work their way into positions of power. These are the same people that are so apathetic to the greatest evil the world has ever known.
They don't represent the majority of Catholics, but just like liberals in politics, the press gives them the loudest platform.
I'm praying for reform. We could use your prayers too! =)
