"Yankee! :)"

Hehehe.

One of my best sweet tea stories actually took place in Colorado. Sweet tea was one of the few things of the south I managed to preserve in our house when I was living out there. When my daughter was in her early teens she had some friends over for the superbowl and I was making them a snack. I made home made fries and sweet tea. Those poor, deprived kids raved over it and couldn't get enough. They started asking for it whenever they came over. It gave me hope for the non-south.

LOL!! I remember the first time I went out of the South on a trip with my family. Couldn't have been more than 10 years old at the time. We stopped into a restaurant up near Washington DC. All of us ordered tea to drink. The waitress brought the unsweetened tea and when my father asked for sweet tea, the waitress made the comment that there was sugar on the table.

I live in Texas and drink only brewed tea, straight up...I can't stand the taste of anything sweet since I learned to live without sugar due to health problems. Same problem with salt, you can't buy fries anymore that aren't saturated in the stuff, it makes me retain water. I figure if people are too dang lazy to put sugar and salt on their own food, they've got a real problem. I just don't like the fact that waitresses are now just assuming everyone likes sweet tea...some of us can have serious detrimental health effects from their assumptions. I feel I should not have to special order unsweetened tea, they should provide sugar for those who want it.
