From 1993 to 2000, I dreaded this night. It pained me to realize that one so unworthy as Clinton would be basking in the glow of the fawning media spotlight, with so many of my fellow citizens not even having a clue as to what the First Felon was truly all about. The day after the SOTU would invariably bring out a plethora of media polls confirming what a great president Slick was, as approval numbers soared even higher. This was especially difficult to swallow in 1998, the Year of Monica. I can recall the sunken feeling in my heart to have these polls rammed down my throat as if they were designed to convince me (and a few other hold-outs) that I too, should pay homage to the Great One.
Tonight, however, is a different story! It has been many years since I eagerly awaited a SOTU speech. I no longer feel disgust when I hear the presidents voice, as I did from 1993 to 2001. I believe in GWB we have a leader of integrity who will lead us through these difficult times. No longer am I ashamed to talk to my small children about the President of the United States. Once again, the occupant of the Oval Office is a man who I respect. What a wonderful feeling!

From 1993 to 2000, I dreaded this night. Same here, but I had a great remedy to get me through that long, long torture. I'd have my boys take off their dirty socks, roll them up and then throw them at Clinton's ugly-ass mug. You should see how respectful my boy's are THIS year.

I ditto everything you have said. I am sure Clinton is watching this tonight on his TV thinking that he could do a better job! The most disgusting thing he did during one of his State of the Union speeches was to mouth "I love you" to her heinous. Made me sick. Funny thing, she is still sitting in that room and he is not.

I couldn't agree more! Very well said.

Yes, and it sure was nice to see the Good Guys all seated in the places of importance on the podium. Not a 'Rat so be seen in all of those camera shots. In all the times past, there was always a 'Rat around to spoil the scene. Even during RWR's terms we had to put up with O'Neill's ugly mug scowling down at Reagan. Even when we had Congress during the '90s the best we could do was have Gingrich or Hastert up there with Klink or Goron. This year's was a much better tableau.
