Best thing Jeb can do here is to attack it head-on and not keep anything back except the most personal things that need to be held back. It's already out now, there's no way to say "it's not your business." He should be there to support his daughter and let the legal system run its course. Quite frankly, this is really a mountain out of a molehill scenario, because first offense with something like this she'll probably get probation and some treatment ... which I'll wager is probably needed. And again, I don't think this will have any impact whatsoever on G.W. It's about Jeb, because just as I said it would be a psychological blow for us to lose Florida, it would send the Dems into orgasmic glee to win it.

Sounds like Noel tried to get a sleeping pill refill from an old doctor, the druggist called a colleague to verify, and then got the gal to call and name the quantity on tape.

Seems to me we ought to make a list of politicos and their families with drug and alcohol probs. Lets see. Kitty Dukaikis, Ted Kennedy, Michael Kennedy, Michael Skakel, Betty Ford, Roger Clinton, LBJ"S brother,,any more I missed?

Billy Carter comes to mind. As does Noelle Bush:

I apologize for my manners. And I don't normally do that, but I mistook you for one of the many disruptors that were infesting that thread.

My apologies for me firing off teh post I did. But I'm no disruptor. Truce accepted.

If Dems and Liberals are going to hang their hat on this issue of trying to obtain a controlled substance and somehow work this into their run to take control of Congress, I say let them. It will backfire.

Freep on!

I think we ought to leave all these poor people alone

That would be nice, but it ain't gonna happen. Jeb's kids and wife have to expect that if they break the law it will end up in the newspapers. If you or I phoned in a prescription or tried to bring 10K worth of clothes into this country illegally we would end up in jail. They should shape up.

Police said the arrest involved the anti-anxiety drug Xanax, a sedative that can become addictive and is often abused for its heroin-like effect of slowing the brain down.

MSNBC ups the ante. Let's put on the limbo music, and see which news agency can get under the bar as its lowered.

You're convinced of her guilt? I'm still not sure, there are still too many unanswered questions.

The drinking situation was outrageous I agree. It was clearly politically motivated. But the greater point, IMHO, is the hypocrisy of our hysterical drug laws.

I thought that we had MADD and threats of denial of Federal Highway Funds to blame for our national 21 drinking age. I had never seen it linked to the WOD laws before.

Looks like it. Best thing for the Gov. to do would be to lay it all out and at the same time ask the press not to dog her so that she can recover.

And that is just if this is a 24 hour pharmacy (which it probably isn't) So someone has held this story for the better part of a day.

Not necessarily.

The media outlets may have heard of the arrest over the police scanner IF they had someone listening 24 hours a day and IF the police said her name over the air--more likely, the arrest itself would have been broadcast, but the cops typed her name into the police computers to check for priors, etc. & that would not have shown up over a scanner.

Otherwise, it would have been left to the persons covering the police beat to pick up the overnight police reports at the police station and at the courthouse the next morning, and after someone realized who "Noelle Bush" was, they would've reported it. In our county, the names of the arrested persons are not released until after their initial appearance in court, but other counties and states may well have different procedures.

There's been nothing about the script. I'm not familiar about Florida but you can't just call in a number and pick up drugs in AZ without a written script. Just because they couldn't verify it at the time doesn't mean she's guilty.

here's a copy of the police report from The Smoking Gun: http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/noellebush1.shtml pretty straight forward and includes the mug shot which others have already posted.

Xanax is an anti-anxiety drug. Unfortunately it is all too often prescribed without ever delving into the underlying cause. Kind of sad for her and I can't really fault the pharmacist in this case.....whatever his motive.

There are alot of questions about the background of the druggist who provided the 'set up' call to the police regarding the quantity of the sleeping pills.

Looking at the mugshot though , those visuals are hard to ignore that she is not addicted ..
