The Director, Mitch Daniels, was a vice president at Eli Lilly. Prior to that he served as Chief of Staff to Senator Lugar (IN), and as political director in the Reagan Administration (1984). He worked for three years at the Hudson Institute and in 1988 he helped Quayle's VP campaign.

The GAO spokesman, Trent Duffy, was the RNC Press Secretary. Prior to that, he worked on the Bush campaign. And before that, he worked under Ari Fleisher at the House Ways and Means committee.

Mitch Daniels is Bush's Director of Management & Budget (OMB), NOT GAO. No relationship. GAO works for congress. OMB is part of Executive branch and reports to President.
