Bump! After all the NAACLP is arguing how unconstitutional its to deprive felons of the right to vote. You could make a case its a constitutional violation to permanently strip a felon of the RKBA especially if its a one time thing. Now why should Bill Clinton be eligible to apply for a waiver but average Joe Felon can't? This should be decided on a case by case individualized basis not on a one size fits all prohibition.

I can't wait for the statists to show up with their, "If you can't do the time, don't do the 'crime'" drivel.

It is those person's with a violent past or mental unstability that should not have access to firearms. All violent offenders are felons, but not all felons are violent offenders. Even so, a former violent felon should be able to get a review. If a former violent felon can show themselves to have been rebilitated and no longer dangerous, they should be able to enjoy the right to self-protection like the rest of us.
