Name dropping, the kind that's unfortunately more nefarious, either literally drops, as in fails to include, a disclaimer, or pops one in when none is needed. A kind of "just in case you the reader won't see this the way we do",

Thanks for the flag, Merc!
And a bump for a well-written AnnaZ article.
It would be interesting to get A+Bert's critique on this premise.

(Heh, heh, heh! How's THAT for name dropping?)

Name dropping is normally meant to define the use of one's alleged nearness, dearness even, to someone oh-so-much more famous and fabulous, making the user oh-so-much more famous and fabulous by the association

Is that how it works?

So one day I'm sitting in a restaurant, when who happens to drop by but my two personal friends MERCURIA and ANNAZ........

Here's an example from yesterday that is soooooo illustrative, it's almost a parody: ONE DOWN: Former Congressman charged with fraud, shackled with monitoring bracelet

The press is hard at work, inventing concepts that are 'appropriate' for mass consumption -- they use labels and buzzwords like bailing wire to package reality into politically acceptable 'bundles' of perception .

'Bailing wire' -- 'Haywire'. Nice piece. (Ping thanx)

The left wing ACLU lawyers work 24/7 to revise history with label changes.

99.99999% of the people they defend fall into a couple of categories.

The biggest category is the Anti America/American clown whose rights are more important than our country and our individual rights. These anti American clowns run from the Black Panthers, the SLA murderers and now the Jihad in America, murderers. These left wing ACLU lawyers do plastic surgery and left wing verbage to make these Anti American Clowns appear to be nice, innocent and well being Americans.

The next clown category is the black clown like Rodney King. If Rodney had been a white skin head, he would have been dispatched that night without a single outcry from the media! Je$$e and Al $harpton are the black clowns's five star poster guys!

Excellent rant...thanks for the bump! It certainly made my lunch hour more palatable!

"The offspring of such selfishness may find themselves emotionally feeling as beat up as a black motorist at the hands of a pile of angry white baton-wielders."

***Sigh*** I am so sick of this over-used and overrated excuse. I know of plenty of people (my dear hubby included) who suffered worse, and even tragic occurences in their childhoods and these people turned out perfectly OK.

What gets me is that you just KNOW this is what the leftist slime-sucking media and defense attorneys will glom onto.

Rock on!

P.S.

"...Well, yesterday at lunch, when I told that joke, Cher almost choked on her chili.'"

Too bad that wasn't true.

Exhibit B: Because it's just too good to pass up on...
