Will new immigrant voters be swinging 2002 state elections?
By Carlos Guerra, San Antonio Express-News, 01/24/2002
As Texas' 2002 election cycle kicks into gear, campaign professionals in both parties are nervously eyeing a mysterious voter group...Before 1990, Mexicans were among the foreigners least likely to seek naturalization, but during the '90s this began to change. Not long after large numbers started winning their amnesty, they became eligible to begin the naturalization process.
Group plans Spanish voter guide
By Associated Press, El Paso Times, 01/24/02
SAN ANTONIO -- For the first time, the League of Women Voters of Texas plans to issue a guide to statewide candidates written entirely in Spanish for the March 12 primaries. The league, which estimates more than 1 million Texas voters use the guides every election, has printed portions of its traditional question-and-answer guide in Spanish for several years.
Number living illegally in U.S. doubles in '90s
Louie Gilot, El Paso Times, 01/24/02
The number of undocumented immigrants in the United States more than doubled during the 1990s, new Census Bureau estimates show. Census estimates show that the number of undocumented immigrants in the United States rose nearly 5 million during the decade, to 8.7 million in 2000. Of that total, almost 3.9 million, or 44 percent, were from Mexico.
Of course it would, but since when does our representatives uphold the laws and the Constitution that they are sworn to uphold? Hmmmmm?
Brilliantly said. Of course the intellectual lightweights will call you all sorts of names for expecting the laws of our nation to be obeyed. Remember, they don't have to obey the laws when they come here illegally and use our social services like parasites, but we DO have to obey the law and have our wallets bled dry paying for them.
Fair isn't it?
You can't. The US is essentially Mexico's wellfare system. We're not getting their doctors and lawyers, we're getting their unskilled laborers and people who can't cut it in Mexico. The one constant in every society is that the unskilled and uneducated always feel entitled to the property of others. They will vote Democrat because Democrats promise them free handouts paid for by us. Nothing can change this because you can't change human nature.
We do get some of their very good ones who are disgusted by the system over there. Many of their doctors and lawyers are useless because they were just rich kids who could buy their way up. The way the system works is the 10% elite class makes sure their own kids get the high paying jobs even if they are stupid. The one who told me that was a guy in Mexico studying to be a lawyer and we were asking if they have the bar exam like we do in the US. He said yes, they have to pass a bar exam and then they can practice law and if they don't pass it they can pay a bribe and then practice law.
Yes, all the safety net programs convince people they can live paycheck to paycheck and send their cash back to Mexico or spend it on beer or lottery tickets. They don't need to save up for a down payment on a house like most Americans because using if they are an ethnic deprived group, the government will come up with all kinds of help for home buying. In this part of the country, they've come up with mortgages as low as $300-400 a month to help the immigrant group buy houses which are obviously really being given to them. Of course they get nothing more than a postage stamp sized yard and the houses all look exactly the same.
And by being the property of the Democrats they have little incentive to ever become productive. The Democrats will just keep building on the permanent underclass, which underpins their political base. Why the GOP can't see this I'll never know.
I completely agree.
LOL By viable I was referring to being electable. Maybe that is the word I should have used. By the time they get through building the democrat voting ranks they will be lucky to get elected to dog catcher. I have no idea why they are so intent on destroying their own party.
