A MILD-MANNERED Colombian nun has been jailed for 14 years for murder after FBI forensics agents detected a trail of blood beneath the freshly painted floorboards in her Bogota convent which linked Sister Leticia Lopez (49) to the body of her victim in the next room.
Colombian police were horrified when they discovered a grisly corpse on a roadside outside the capital two years ago. The legless body had been shot repeatedly in the head and badly burnt. It took five months to identify the victim as Sister Luz Amparo Granada (30), a nun from the Adoratrices convent in Bogota's rough Candelaria district.
She had worked on the streets with prostitutes and heroin addicts.
Police grew convinced that the nun was slain inside the cloister by an acquaintance but they could not gather sufficient evidence to convict Sister Leticia, their main suspect.
Local prosecutors refused to close the case. They had found microscopic blood droplets and bone chips between the floorboards of the murdered nun's bedroom even though it had been repainted.
The FBI were able to detect blood spatters on the wall beneath new paint as well as a trail where the body had been dragged through the convent's corridors to the back door.
Sister Leticia had frowned on the victim's friendships with sex workers but the motive for the killing is unclear.

Gee, I am reading the Name of the Rose right now! (Intrigue in the abbey is its premise). But what strikes me here is the mention of the FBI. Better not be our FBI. V's wife.

Yeah, none of the nuns in my school were mild mannered. Rosary festooned witches with switches, yes they were. *whack* Eyes in the back of their heads, too.

workers but the motive for the killing is unclear. Lovers quarrel.

She was always a quiet type...kept to herself, and was good with the neighborhood kids (typical description of any murderer in the media).
While Dade County police hunt for O.J. Simpson's girlfriend who has disappeared, maybe he can skip the country under the auspices of helping this poor nun find the real killer at the cloister.

I heard that nuns are disciplinarians, but THIS is ridiculous.

Another homosexual on heterosexual hate crime. Seems that 50 % of all sex crimes are committed by a small minority of homosexuals upon their uncooperative heterosexual victims. Yup 50% of all child molestation is done by that flaky demografic.

You're not a math person I see. If 5% of any population committs 50% of all sex crimes, then they have a 1000% higher incidence of sex crime involvement.
You probably should have paid attention in math class in high school or statistics in college. Fantasicing about that football player in front of you has kept you IGNORANT. Hope you get those loafers resoled.

Sister Leticia had frowned on the victim's friendships with sex workers but the motive for the killing is unclear. Mark 2:15-16 And it came to pass, that, as Jesus sat at meat in his house, many publicans and sinners sat also together with Jesus and his disciples: for there were many, and they followed him. And when the scribes and Pharisees saw him eat with publicans and sinners, they said unto his disciples, How is it that he eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners?

That struck me as well...Why is the FBI investigating murders in Colombia?

14 years was all she got? They should get that just for the way the nuns used to beat up on us kids (not that I was an angel mind you). But the sentence doesn't fit the crime.

I have a relative who used to be a drug addict from his teens onward. He started after he was sent to a ritzy Catholic boarding school in Colombia. He said at night, the priests would come and pick out the boys they had chosen.

Sister Leticia Lopez can always say that the Holy Spirit decended upon her, causing her to chatter away in tongues, thusly confusing her and causing her to do something like murder?
She didn't know what she was saying or doing, thanks to the Holy Spirit?
