His statement echoes Church teaching on this:
[ First of all, please do not use the phrase "pro choice" or give it credence. The fact is that every human being is "pro choice" in that he or she can choose to do the will of God or to reject God. And when someone chooses to abort, that is a sin against God. Please read the following quote from Pope Pius XII, which precisely states the CHurch teaching on your question, regarding any act of aborting an innocent child with the intent to kill that child: : "Every human being, even the infant in the mother's womb, has the right to life immediately from God, not from the parent or any human society or authority. Therefore there is no man, no human authority, no science, no medical, eugenic , social, economic or moral "indication" that can show or give valid juridical title for direct deliberate disposition concerning an innocent human life - which is to say, a disposition that aims at its destruction either as an end in itself or as the means of attaining another end that is perhaps in no way illicit in itself. Thus, for example, to save the life of the mother is a most noble end, but the direct killing of the child as a means to this end is not licit..." (Pope Pius XII, Allocution to Italian Midwives, 10/29/51) ]
Recently a Priest on EWTN radio labeled the "pro-choice" politicians as " modern day Pontius Pilates ", who conveniently duck making a clear decision based on truth and evidence, and bow to the will of the most vocal group, just as Pilate said: " Matthew 27:24 And Pilate seeing that he prevailed nothing, but that rather a tumult was made; taking water washed his hands before the people, saying: I am innocent of the blood of this just man; look you to it. "
Now we should all start labeling them as such : Tom Pontius Daschle, Teddy Pilate Kennedy, etc.
Exactly!
God Bless
Mel
On behalf of all Catholic freepers, thank you for your kind words.
Pray and fast for the unborn!
God Bless Mel
President Bush gave a grreat speech over the phone piped through the loud speakers that was well received by all. In a nutshell , he said that the "unborn" have to be protected in law, ie repeal Roe v Wade, and that creating lfe to destroy life was unacceptable period. A very pro life message. The crowd loved it. Bush was better received this year when compared to last IMHO, and deservedly so.
Now for the bad news, the Soviet Press had nothing on the American press. In the 8 hour car ride we never heard one mention of the March for Life which virtually filled a good portion of Constitution Avenue, had speakers such as POTUS, Senator Brownback, Congressman Smith, Congressman Hart, a freshman pro life Republican woman from Pa who was very impressive, Bob Dornan, Congressman Tiahart(sp), Congressman Chabot and every Catholic Bishop they could round up and there were a lot of them. Also present were the same Jewish Rebbes who are there every year, very, very committed to the movement.
Yet not one stinkin word from the press and that includes three hours of Sean Hannitys show. But then again, there doesn't seem like there was much interest at FR either.
I have pictures of the march, downloading to my other PC now. If I get a chance and find somewhere to host them I'll post a few.
Very disappointed in Hannity.
EWTN is replaying the March right now. Chris Smith was great.
"Unceasing prayer and frequent fasting." Sound advise from a congressman.
