SAS EXPANDS TO COLLEGE CAMPUSES
The Second Amendment Sisters (SAS) are proud to officially announce that they are expanding onto college campuses. This past fall, Christie Caywood accepted the position of College Chapter Liaison. Ms. Caywood started the first SAS College Chapter at Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts.
“SAS is a unique Second Amendment group that focuses on women and why they would want to be armed, or at least support the right to be armed. Women here have been responsive and open to discussing the issue,” stated Ms. Caywood when asked about the reaction to SAS on campus.
Juli Bednarzyk, SAS President, affirmed the positive reaction, “Every hour of time we spend fighting for our rights today is time that we are investing in the future. In this upcoming year, SAS will focus on the importance of young people to the basic human right of self-defense and the Second Amendment. Last year saw the creation of our first College Chapter at Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts. We’ve had more requests from other colleges. We have our work cut out for us, but the interest is there!”
Second Amendment Sisters is raising the awareness of the importance of the Second Amendment and the role it plays in protecting the right to self-defense. The organization is made up entirely up unpaid volunteers, dedicated to promoting the basic human right to self-defense, as recognized by the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution.

(A) 90% of all violent crimes in the U.S. do not involve firearms of any type. (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, 1998)
(B) Less than 1% of firearms will ever be used in the commission of a crime (much less a violent crime). (FBI Uniform Crime Statistics, 1994)

It's what's needed. It's the women who are generally the veto vote on whether you can have guns in the house, and it's the women who are generally active in the anti-2nd-Amendment arena. If we're going to turn this around, we need pro-2nd groups on lots of campuses
