"Adolf Hitler said...'Let me control the textbooks and give to youth it's own I will control the state. The state with take youth and give to youth its own education and its own upbringing. Your child belongs to us already...What are you?'"Remind anyone of a certain New York Senator??
Great post -- the NEA has been chillingly effective in it's own fascist way.

And let me share something with you parents who think that while most schools are in bad shape, yours is OK, and your good little children are doing just fine. The vast majority of you are totally wrong. They're not OK, and I know it for a fact because I knew parents like you back when I was in high school, when I was out partying with your sons on the sports team and having sex with your daughters in the youth group. The fact that you live in a nice community where everyone goes to church and drives a German import means nothing, and the fact that a school might send a few academic high flyers off to Harvard doesn't indicate that the moral foundation of its students has not been destroyed. I wanted to highlight the whole article, but this will do. I went to school in an upper middle class town known for its "great schools." In reality, the situation was more like "Lord of the Flies." The "our schools are great" myth is perpetuated by the school board and real estate agents in every town and is gladly accepted by busy see-no-evil, hear-no-evil parents.
In short, we have the school system we deserve. The sad thing is, the kids don't deserve it .

I went to school in an upper middle class town known for its "great schools."Ditto that. My former school district is considered one of the finest in the country. I figure that since I've experienced "the best," I know exactly what my kids are missing, and I'm glad they're missing it.
