Do we have an Environmental Impact Statement on this yet? How does this affect the premissible CO2 emissions for the Congo? Has there been an Affirmative Action directive sent out yet, so that one racial group is not more targeted than others in the general group? Where are the peace initiatives, to get an agreement with the volcano involved? We are all to blame for this environmental, economic and unexpected loss, and the victims should be reimbursed for their losses IMMEDIATELY. Perhaps we could drop a daisy cutter to stop the lava flow?

Your definition of people more "deserving of death" is "Muslims". That includes women and children, which if it is your intention, then your are a sick and twisted individual.

The overall rate of rifting is approximately 1 inch a year.
Sounds awfully slow but we're talking a HUGE volume of crustal rock here.
And as the pressure builds, volcanoes erupt along the margins.
New soil is thus created. This attracts human habitation - think of Pompeii.
The agricultural bounty makes it worth the risk - until the next eruption.

This volcano, Nyiragongo, is one of the most active in Africa.

The most recent activity at Nyiragongo began in June of 1994. A lava lake once again filled part of the crater. The lava lake was approximately 130 feet (40 m) in diameter and sent lava flows onto the floor of the 2,600 feet (800 m) diameter crater. I find the muslim belief system to be harmful to my health, and it's adherent's a threat to my life. I was in Zaire(Congo) for a while, and if any people are more ignorant of the world than the Congolese, I've yet to meet them.

There was increased interest in the hot spots around the Salton Sea recently to possibly be a forewarning of an 8.0 magnitude event, but nothing else recently,,this was a couple of weeks ago. There do seem to be some new major streses being relieved in some seismic patterns over the last week in S. Ca, but nothing more substantial at present.

I've been there....we went to Maui about 3 years ago..amazing! There is that National Park there..I have pictures of the warnings that they have posted about the lava ledges? Like, don't SIT ON THEM? It was neat but eerie at the same time....to see what used to be a road completely covered in lava. Oh. And I remember THIS MORE THAN ANYTHING....I sat down to have my picture taken, and I got a piece of the glass in my leg. Hurt like hell. What do they call that kind of lava? I know they named it after the woman goddess of volcanos over there...I was fascinated by the stories the natives told about her...how she could transform herself from a beautiful woman to an old woman...

The woman from Christian Aid makes a frightening point: there are craters under the lake which may also go; if they do, the two hydroelectric dams may not hold, and killer floods could occur.
