yep. according to MSNBC she got the minimum sentence possible and under current law could be out in as little as three years. (not counting whatever happens on the murder charge she just got indicted for)
could be out in as little as three years. Grrrrr! I was afraid that might be true. Do you see people, it's all for show - satisfy the passions of the moment is the ruling theme. When she's released after three years there won't be any focusing point; parole board meetings aren't something anyone pays attention to like sentencing. We all, this entire nation, are being played for fools! Twenty years to life means nothing, absolutely nothing, except to satisfy the bloodthirsty mob (you and I) - they think as they regard us with utter contempt. Sorry to be so cynical, but I've observed this legal system for years and have been getting sicker and sicker of it!
I was reading a rather well written article in my local daily rag about the lastest murder charges against the entire gang (I don't know if it was posted here.) It quoted all kinds of experts, law professors, lawyers and so on. Whatever we think of them, and we generally don't think of them too well, it doesn't sound like the case will be a walk in the park. In fact, it could very well fall apart, and it is probably a safe bet to say that some of the gang will walk immediately (as opposed to after three years,) with their reputations enhanced among this country's cognoscenti. It's going to be quite a freaking show. This country's entire one million lawyer population is salivating at this case, as we speak, folks.
That is not to say that I think it is a mistake for the state of CA to pursue this case, only to warn that it is not going to be your grandmother's delicious fruitcake.
