IMHO every day we don't hear from OBL increases the likelyhood that he is dead or at least isolated in a cave someplace. They guy is an egomaniac. If he had escaped to another part of the world I don't think he could resist sending another tape to Al Jazira just to say "Nyah Nyah, you can't catch me!"

You are correct. Sending a video is pretty low risk, especially if you remember not to do it in front of any landmarks. He would be in our face if he could be.
