Bosnia Orders Terror Suspects Freed
By ALEXANDAR S. DRAGICEVIC, Associated Press Writer
SARAJEVO, Bosnia-Herzegovina (AP) - Bosnia's highest court ordered the release Thursday of six Algerians suspected of having terrorist links. U.S. officials were expected to take them into custody.
The suspects will be delivered to U.S. custody one by one, said a U.S. defense official in Washington, speaking on the condition of anonymity. The official added that the precise timing of the handovers hasn't been determined.
The Supreme Court of the Muslim-Croat Bosnian federation ruled that there was not enough evidence to detain the men, who were rounded up after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on the United States.
Hours after the court's late night order, crowds formed outside the holding facility in Sarajevo, with 300 family members, friends and other supporters of the six expressing concern over rumors the men were going to be extradited.
Police attempted to move the men from the facility, but were turned back by the crowd.
The men were suspected of involvement either with the Armed Islamic Group, an Algerian terrorist organization, or with the Egyptian terrorist organization al-Gamaa al-Islamiya. One of the men had a relative working in the U.S. Embassy in Sarajevo, the Bosnian capital.
One of the men, Bensayah Belkacem, was arrested on the basis of foreign intelligence reports that he allegedly made telephone calls to an aide of Osama bin Laden, held responsible by Washington for the suicide attacks on the United States.
The others were arrested after British and U.S. officials in Bosnia briefly closed their embassies here, citing credible security threats.
Most of the men worked for various Islamic humanitarian agencies in Bosnia.
More than 1 million Muslims live in Bosnia, but most are secular or religious moderates.
American intelligence passed the names of 20 individuals suspected of Al Quaeda ties to Bosnian authorities - during the last 3 months, 6 of those individuals, upon further investigation, were seen to have had ties with Al Quaeda.
During these 3 months, we didn't disclose our evidence to the Bosnians, in order to protect our intelligence assets, who as a result are now unable to keep the men held as they have been given nothing to charge them with.
Now, upon their release, they are being turned over to us via SFOR, and will be taken to Gitmo. The fact that their family and friends are protesting has nothing to do with the Bosnian Government, and the protests of the Bosnian Government as to Human Rights concerns has been explained to you already, though you have proven too dense or prejudiced in your cause to comprehend or take notice of it.
No, Pericles, I'm not comparing the ICTY to Gitmo - I was comparing the similar scenes of losers rallying around their heroes as they were turned over to our custody to face justice.
Face it Pericles, when all's said and done, you've spent the last 24 hours making an ass of yourself on multiple threads (Count 'em: This one, 2, 3, 4, and a 5th where you were doing a fine job making an ass of yourself on a related matter already) with your faulty interpretation and analysis of these events - though if it turns out the 6 evade being handed over I'll be sure to bow down before your superior (ahem) intellect and prescience.
Seriously, between Fusion, vooch, and yourself, I feel like I'm dealing with the three stooges here - except instead of being called Moe, Larry, and Curly, I've got, Mitty, Liar, and Cozener.
I suggest you hold a poll to see how you should best handle this situation - I've added in a couple of responses to save you time.
Should Pericles:
1. Deny being wrong. (Vooch)
2. Ignore the situation and move onto other threads. (Fusion)
3. Admit the error and resolve to become better informed in the future to avoid such mistakes.
Yeah, I just threw that last one in as a joke.
The Serbs were right not only to resist these Islamist but to kill any they found on sight.
In Islamic Bosnia the weeds of 9/11 took root.
Behold the evil Clinton allowed to take root. The allies of America and Western civilization:

Croatia is not a muslim country. Infact Croatia has a larger percentage of Christians then any other country in the Balkans.
One only wonders why the Serbs didn't lynch this pathetic loser before the internationalists could nab him. What the hell was wrong with these people?
It's hard to over throw a evil dictator when your sick and hungry. The same reason Saddam Housein is still in power.
C'mon Pericles, tell me how you really feel...
Show me that you aren't just another simpleton spouting ethno-bigot tripe learned at your parent's knees - I want something original - I want a plan of action that that has a chance of working - none of this retro World War 2 concentration camp running Sonderkommando acting Kaminski Brigade Recruiting Center copying B.S. perpetrated by your soon to be late heroes who's lack of imagination was only matched by their lack of intelligence - I demand that as a 21st century bigot you can do better, to show that you've learned from the mistakes of past ethno-racists and are at least to the level of a trained monkey in that you don't repeat the actions of others after seeing them subjected to continual negative stimulus.
Is that asking too much?
'Cause I seriously don't think I can handle another round of you and your kind's whining after getting stomped again the next time.
It has to do with a murderous ethnic cleansing campaign mounted by an organized crime syndicate masquerading as the government of Serbia, and the choices it's victims were presented with as to who would aid them in their fight for survival, and the consequences of those choices being interpreted through your spite colored glasses.
Ignorance is bliss, however, and as you have proven to prefer a world view formed by familiar prejudice rather than disconcerting knowledge, I leave you to stew in your impotent rage, secure in the knowledge that Washington has an ally in Sarajevo, while you foam at the mouth about statistically irrelevant portions of Bosnia's population.
Our allies-The Bosnian Muslims. With allies like these......
don't ya just love how naive these HumWarriors can be ?
Sure, Washington has a ally in Sarajevo.....as long as it keeps a few thousand US soldiers on occupation duty, as long as Washington pumps a few billion into the corrupt coffers of the Iztbegovic pols every year.......such a great ally
And yup, these Al-Queeda activists are certainly a statisically insignificant percentage of the population but the local Al-Queeda types are inspired by none other than our "ally" Iztebgovic.....
or did you miss the ABC story on Bosnian Fundamentalism posted last week in which a local Al-Queeda sympathizer said he was inspired by Iztbegovic's writings ?
Hoplite, really now please accept the truth.......the regime in Sarajevo is NOT a friend of the US. Yes, it is dependent upon the US for its existence and therefore plays ball with us when we get tough.......but one must ask
Just why was it even necessary to force Iztbegovic's regime arrest ANY Al-Queeda ? Why was any pressure required on our part ? If Iztbegovic is such a pal of ours, I'd have thought the local Al-Queeda was have been rounded up PRIOR to 9/11.........
GIGO.
ROTHFLMAO
GIGO.
nice try, but all any FR needs to do is go to the link and read the ABC news article and make the same conclusion so many others have........Iztbegovic was & remains a Islamic extremist.
Iztbegovic was a Islamic extremist long before 1990.
