If taxes are increased in California, it will be because of Republican turncoats who will be bought off in exchange for their votes. If that happens, Paul Horcher-like recalls should be in order.

The deregulation plan, approved unanimously by the state Legislature in 1996, will cost $22 billion in ``excessive electricity prices for the next twenty years'' as a result of long- term contracts signed by the state, the consumer group said. Sorry, Harvey, it wasn't the phony dereg. plan that caused this. It was totally incompetent politicians posing as energy brokers who panicked and overbought power, locking in peak prices for years to come. Don't just whine and moan, Harvey. Do something to to get these incompetent boobs voted out of office.
