Deng Chau Ping used to eat two puppies a day. Import or domestic?

North Korea has staved millions of its citizens to death over the last decade, and there are reputable reports that cannabalism is common in the country. You never see this reported...Yet the media wastes more time on this penultimate "man bites dog" story....

We had a thread here a while back about the Chinese raising Saint Bernards for food. They were favored because of their fertility and fast growth.
We're supposed to favor diversity here, yet when another culture does something different, that's not OK? How do we look to Muslims and Jews when we eat pork? To Hindus when we eat beef?

Yet the media wastes more time on this penultimate "man bites dog" story....I hate you.

I love dogs...they taste yummy! Just kidding. I do love dogs. They are great companions and service dogs like seeing eye dogs and rescue dogs cement the image of man's noble companion. But dogs are animals. They are not furry people.
People in India think we're barbaric because we eat cows. Practicing Jews and Muslims are appalled that we would eat pigs. In SEAsia, dogs are a food source. We may not like it, but it is what it is. ANd for all those bleeding hearts out there, if they were faced with the option of butchering and eating their dog or letting their children starve to death, what choice do you think they would make? Wait, don't answer that...it may not be what I would expect.

I agree with you, what other cultures eat is their business.
I can't imagine eating a dog except as a last resort, but don't think twice about a good steak, ham or chunk of Bambi sausage.

Cat ... the other white meat...

I've eaten dog before. It's not bad at all. Like post 15 points out, it's a food source. People will get their protein where ever they can.
