"Hunters drew more attention to it from their insecurity than Jeep would have ever got on their own," PETA president Ingrid Newkirk said in a telephone interview. "So Jeep won." "I think the hunters shot themselves in the foot," Newkirk said. "In this case, that's a true-to-life pun." Since she considers hunters to be "gun nuts" who terrorize animals in the woods, then rescuing animals from them fits this ideology, Newkirk claimed.
She makes no apologies for equating hunting with terror attacks, and she's happy that some of PETA's official animal-rescue vehicles are
Jeep Cherokees.
Statements from PETA rarely fail to entertain me.

Probably just about the dumbest move an ad agency could make. Portraying men with guns as the bad guys while men with guns are protecting our very lives over in Afghanistan has to be first in line for moron of the year award.
Jeep is rapidly losing their bread and butter supporters in favor of a wispy group of people who change fads like they change underware.

Boy, quote after quote after quote from PETA getting their anti-hunting message across, but only a couple quotes from from the pro-hunting side. I wonder where this authors bias' lie? And he writes for ESPN Outdoors!

...Leaders of DaimlerChrysler Corp., which is Jeep's parent company, are keeping mum over whether they believe they have won or lost sales from the controversial ad. Jeff Bell, the corporation's vice president for marketing communications, said that Jeep never intended nor expected the ad to evoke negative emotions from sport-hunting camps.
Bell is a friggin moron. Mr. Bell, Toyota WILL knock you off your perch as Number Three.

IMHO, the only Jeep I'd buy is a Willy's.
The Jeep hit an all-time low when AMC made 'em (I drove a 1977 CJ-7 -- what crap!), and has only gotten slightly better since then.

I don't see many geeks driving jeeps, and Crysler, sitting there on their last leg offend their biggest buyers and then say they didn't mean it. Talk about a death wish as far as corperate longevity goes. And no apology either, interesting.

Thanks for pinging me on this great news!
Another left wing PC maggot not so bright PC idea gets flushed down the toilet of reality!
My wife made some incredible ground venison stew last night! I will have the leftovers for a great lunch!
Screw the PETAs and the left wing maggots at the Jeep ad agency!

Chrysler is junk, and has been for a long time.

Ingrid Newkirk is a flake. She took control of the PETA leadership and turned it into a cult of personality. She changed PETA's direction from taking meaningful actions to prevent needless animal crualty to perform high-visibility yet useless acts of performance art.
She sickens me. Next time you get into a discussion with a PETA-phile, ask then why PETA pays to put down stray cats in the Norfolk area instead of trying to find homes for them like other animal groups.
grrrrrr........

I don't see many geeks driving jeepsAnd since PETA claims to have more than 700,000 members, compared to the U. S. Sportsmen's Alliance 35,000 members, I guess Daimler Chrysler must have had an epiphany regarding who comprises their customer base.
Too bad they didn't have this revelation before their stupid ad ran.

The PETA eco terrorist envirals out west drive beat up old Volkswagen vans with curtains on their windows so we can't see their tools for eco terrorism! If you are out fishing, hunting or hiking in a remote area and see one of their vans, it is time to make sure that your self protection mechanism is loaded! Then you make sure that they see it in your holster!

People are more interested in saving animals, I think, than killing themTell it to the slaughterhouses. There's a good place to start. These uneducated fanatics don't have clue one what hunting is about and what the role of hunters is in wildlife conservation.

The company cars that I had, that were Chrysler products were traded in by the company at about 30,000 miles to prevent serious problems from showing up. I have friends still driving a Ford that we bought with 50k from the company and kept for a year. They now have over 100K on it!
Regardless, I would not buy a jeep product or Chrysler product after this venture into PC land! Scr$w them!
