As a New Yorker who rides the subway every day, I can tell you that for all practical purposes, there is a black nation and a white nation. Even if there is polite discourse (normally work-related), it doesn't change the fact that whites and blacks (at least in NYC) live on two separate planets. I believe that for all the racial happy-talk that fills the airwaves and media, nothing has changed this basic fact of life.

It is that way here in Kentucky , also. There are a very small number of exceptions. I can tell you, that they want to be with and live with their own kind. I can't say I blame them. I am the same way. I think a matter of time and it could easily be a civil war with blacks and whites..I hope not.
