As a washington freeper I did a search for some info on the Klamath basin controversy, and came across this article. I dont agree with everything the author says, but he does make some very interesting points. Klamath is a complex issue and this kind of simplistic scapegoating by the SPLC is frankly out of line. Ive heard the SPLC have a few people that are careerists but this latest "report" is ridiculous even for them. If this kind of stuff keeps up, the SPLC may one day break free of the earths gravitational pull and float off into outer space forever.
These guys must really be hurting for someone to sue. This is getting to be the modern left wing version of 50's era "red scare" stuff.

When the Southern Profit and Lies Center picks on you, you definately are in the right. Morris Dees is a bigger scoundral and scumbag than slick or kerr if thats possible. This bunch piling on to the farmers, maybe part of last ditch efforts to win and withhold water again. Like they think think they are losing the PR battle...Ed Hubel

I heard one of the Klamath Falls Farmers on the Lars Larson Show today.
He lost $800,000 last year and got $120,000 from the federal government, which is income taxable by federal and state.
This farmer will be in bankruptcy court next week filing for Chapter 12.
His family has farmed in Klamath since 1909.
Farmers still have no word on loans for this year,
despite the President's promise to help and a 132% snow pack level.

The sad news is that there will be farmers like the one you heard.
