Andersen admiited on Tuesday that its staff appeared to have shredded and deleted Enron documents after recieving a subpeona from regulators, the first strong sign that there may have been criminal activity linked to the demise of the U.S. energy trader.

The Big Five professional services firm also said had fired David Duncan, the lead partner on the Enron audits in Houston, and placed three partners on leave. Four others have been stripped of their management responsibilities.

Anderson which is battling to save its reputation worldwide following Enron's collapse into bankruptcy, revealed that Mr. Duncan had ordered the disposal of documents after the Security and Exchange Commission had opened its probe.

Andersen says there was no consultation with others in the firm and there there had been no authorisation of the wholesale disposals. But a lawyer for Mr. Duncan responded on Tuesday that his client had been properly following instructions from head office in Chicago.

I'm curious as to how much money Anderson has given to Democrats over the years.

Good Lord is right. Apparently, dealing with an obstruction charge was more desirable than the contents of the papers. Something to behold it is....

Many people from Arthur Anderson need to straight-up go to jail.

Many people from Enron need to straight-up go to jail.

Well, obstruction of justice and conspiracy are two slam-dunk felonies right there.

That will be in addition to all the counts of fraud, etc.

Don't forget the impact of X42. He showed everyone in business and in politics that perjury and obstruction of justice is just peachy behavior, and something to be lauded.

Not if you're Bill or Hillary Clinton!

PS:

Hummm..

I am considering a new business model..

Providing high performance shreaders to large corporations.

Something modeled on the Wood Chipper, but powered with an Aluminum, 454 CI, Big Block Chevy engine, with about 500 ft lbs of torque and a vaccum attachment powerfull enough to draw documents in from 10 to 15 feet away with no human intervention what so ever.

Do you think Mr. Duncan has hired some personal security yet?

What the heck is going on here?

Criminal fraud, obstruction of justice, and perjury.

In other words, typical Clinton behavior.

But Arthur Andersen is not Bill or Hillary. Who sticks their neck out to defend accountants?

There are no Kool-Aid drinking Friends of Arthur.

Good point. Cop a plea, pay a fine, go to a minimum security country club for six months and you're home free.
