--and ya know what? I bet if the sheriffs office had just routinely come clean with the info, even if it implicated the deputy, and the deputy had sincerely apologised and fessed up, that the parents would have said something like " OK, we're hurt, but we understand what happened. thankyou, we understand it was a terrible moment on a terrible day"-something like that, and nothing more would have happened. I imagine they just want to know what's what, and would have understood heat of the moment and a mistake. I don't think they believe that the deputy delibarately targeted some random kid in general to shoot, but after all this time and the stonewalling, they got whizzed off. People are funny, they can take some crap if they aren't lied to about it, what's the old adage, don't whiz on my back and tell me it's raining? Applies in this case, and in so many other cases as well. all government needs to do is to admit it screws up once in awhile, not this perpetual "who,me???" deal they pull..

Thanks for the flag, t-shirt. I read some of this now and am bookmarking it to finish later. Don't take me off your list on this one. You have done a great job and this has all the markings of something rotten as hell.

Hmmm, a coverup that just can't stay covered up.
Of course, that doesn't stop them from trying.
I have more respect for the officer that screwed up and at least had
the decency to feel bad about it than the scum that convinced him to
change his story and then lie to protect their reps.
(Assuming of course that the PILE of evidence that points to that conclusion turns
out to be correct. Which, if the leo's in charge of this have anything to say/do about it...)

G*d protect me from a cop that lies...I can protect myself from the common criminal.
