I hightlighted the key points of the LAT article. Richard Riordan is cocky and arrogant; he isn't even running a primary campaign or trying to appeal to even moderate Republicans. He's openly embracing every liberal idea and shunning the Republican Party.

I am embarrassed that so many in the GOP establishment have jumped on board this disaster. Riordan will tear down the Republican Party with his liberal agenda.

I am voting for Bill Simon. All Republicans need to come out on March 5th and vote for Bill Simon. We can not allow ourselves to be taken for granted. Bill Simon offers a REAL choice, the compassionate conservativism of GWB and the solid political philosophy of Reagan. And it doesn't hurt to have friends like Rudy Guiliani!

I'm gonna vote for Bill Jones. God help us if Riordan gets the nod. We'd be better off with "Gay" Davis at the helm. For victory & freedom!!!

Amen. And if Dickie Pooh is touted as representing what the GOP should stand for in the future, the Rats can be happy the Republican Party has not only betrayed its principles to win, its betrayed its voters. A party whose leading candidate sticks it to the base at every opportunity deserves to be betrayed in turn as well. With Dickie Pooh at the helm the CA GOP will be headed for a defeat that will make all of its previous losses look like the party bigwigs wish they'd left things well enough alone. Do we really want a party that stands even to the LEFT of where the Rats are? The question answers itself.

Riordan's leftward tilt on social issues could attract moderates and independents in a general election contest against incumbent Democrat Gray Davis in November, strategists say. But the former Los Angeles mayor risks a backlash by conservative voters in the March 5 primary and beyond.

More importantly, DICK is sorely lacking on fiscal issues too. He has no credentials and he certainly isn't going to earn any either.

We have to really get the message out about Simon. The news media are giving all the press to Riordan but everyone I talk to is voting for Simon and disregarding Riordan as a candidate. Simon's radio and tv ads will kick in and let people know who he is and that there is a REAL CHOICE. Not a RINO choice.

If Riordan wins, any conservative that votes for him is an utter fool. He's so bad he makes a liberal like Mayor Rudy look conservative and he is far from it. The standards just sink lower and lower because the Republicans realize many in the base are stupid enough to think a far-left Republican winning is victory. It's not. Riordan would be worse than Gray Davis.
