"The fastest way to show taxpayers that we are serious about tax relief is to make the tax cut permanent...We need to stimulate investment not consumption. That is why I have favored a big and bold capital gains tax cut since the day I came to Washington."A Zell of a speech!

This man is too honest to stay a Democrat forever.
If (when?) he stays a Democrat, will you re-evaluate the first part of this statement?
He talks a good game, but the fact is that it is a short walk across the aisle, and Tom Daschle has control of the Senate because Zell enables him to have control of the Senate, and its legislative process.

We need to stimulate investment not consumption. That is why I have favored a big and bold capital gains tax cut since the day I came to Washington. We are not in a slump just because consumer sales are down. We are in a slump because venture capital fell 74 percent the past year. Capital spending by businesses is at it lowest in decades.
Dang! A senator who understands supply-side economics! Those are rare on both sides of the aisle! Give 'em hell Zell!

Hm. I think you take my rhetorical comment a bit too seriously. But your point is valid.

Fair enough :-)
I just get frustrated at times. I used to live in Georgia, and I know that while Zig Zag Zell talks a good game and is remarkably conservative for a Democrat, he is not consistently conservative, he is a political opportunist, and he is a Democrat to his core.
I wish he would leave their party, but I just can't imagine it happening.

I hereby predict Zell Miller will join the GOP before the end of the year, but most likely after the November Elections wherein Puff Daschle's Obstructionist Senate is a Major Issue in a GOP Landslide!!
So sayeth the word of...MUD

AMEN! Zell should display some raw personal courage and turn against the corruption kings in the Rat party. America needs true heroes - be one, Zell!

"...he is a DemonRAT to his core. I wish he would leave their party, but I just can't imagine it happening." Please see #27 above and I'll bet'cha a dollar I'm Right...MUD

"Zell should display some raw personal courage and turn against the corruption kings in the Rat party." Until after the elections in November of this year, Miller's more valuable to the Right with a (D-GA) after his name than if he changed it to a (R-GA), IMHO.
FReegards...MUD

I'll take that bet (hey, it is only a 20 minute phone call, right?).
If Daschle loses the Senate, Miller will make a speech about how the Democrats need to change their tune. He will vote often, but not as often as he does now, with the Republicans.
And he will remain a Democrat.
That is my guess.
To: Mudboy Slim
MUD, your right:
>>>I hereby predict Zell Miller will join the GOP before the end of the year<<<
This speech sounds like he is readying his constituants for a jump. If he doesn't jump, he's in trouble cause he's just burned a bunch of bridges behind him.
I could vote for Zell......hummmmm, I wonder in what capacity? VP if Cheney doesn't run, and then P in 2008???
To: Mudboy Slim
Your Post Number 32
I think you are exactly right. Zell is far more use to the conservatives right now as a D.
To: Lance Romance
Zell Miller is a fine man. Many thanks for this wonderful post.
To: Mudboy Slim
Please explain how this is true. It is NOW that we can take the majority gavel from Daschle if Zell switched parties NOW. Why wait????
To: Mudboy Slim
Hey Mud I consulted my magic 8 ball for your prediction. It says:

Forget switching the balance of the Senate. I'll take an even up trade for McCain. The Dem's can have the Manchurian Candidate.

Put your money where your mouth is, Zell. Come across the aisle and join up with the 'Pubs.
