Hey, Sparky, I'm way down on the list of respondents, but obviously you have not been listening to Rush very long. He became very rich, very slowly. Was not a college grad, got fired from many jobs, kept on keepin' on. He deserves his life. Could have retired 10 years ago. Unfortunately, he must continue because he's Talent on Loan from God!

Keep on w/your conservative beliefs, just dial into someone else. Neil Boortz is good! Or Laura I. Medved is a MUST! Lotsa conservative voices out there, but they all have Rush to thank!

“I believe he was a complete failure for most of his life. “

I believe you can’t do math. He is 59 and has had his current show since he was 37. He has had other shows before that. “Complete failure”? You sound like a liberal running on nothing but emotion.

Try decaf next time.

I do remember a time on this forum when it was strange to even see a Rush Limbaugh thread or threads about other Talk Radio hosts.

FR posters considered themselves somewhat above the pedestrian mass media. Everyone was familiar with what Rush did for his show, but it didn’t really dig very deep into the backstory for most of the Clinton era stuff.

I knew about Rush from the start as he was in KC with a local station and with the Kansas City Royals. When he got his own show after going to Sacramento, the local radio guys I knew talked about how he was unable to fit the formatted shows and his deal in Sacramento was like a guy reinventing himself as he was set free to do what he wanted — his thing. He admits that at heart he is an entertainer and his conservatism is what he felt was most entertaining — his love of selling the concepts and insights.

Twenty-five years ago he was exciting, and while I think he still makes a few points, I rarely listen to him. Could be the time slot issue.

Mark Levin is on my radio dial every night leaving work.

You know you just posted to someone that hasn’t made a comment on FR in eight years, right?

But... I believe Rush Limbaugh is a rich guy who is only out for the rich.I believe he was a complete failure for most of his life. I believe he would still be a failure if not for the clintons, and I believe he is a hypocrite.

Gee, if Limbaugh is only out for the rich, then there sure are a lot of rich people listening to the radio from 12N to 3 PM Eastern. About 20 million of them, in fact.

You evidently weren't aware that he started his national show and grew it into a major force before GHWB was defeated by Clinton.

And he migrated from job-to-job for the first 17 years of his career. But haven't most of us done that? Especially, if were in the radio biz -- where job security is famously measured by the program manager's whim.

So, there's a lot of rich people in the country, you were mistaken in two of your assertions...and you think he's a hypocrite (usually a cheap shot charge).

Look, if you don't enjoy the show, don't listen. It's that easy.

I never look at dates. Glad she’s gone.
