Evans sort of hit on the idiocy of Waxman but the point needs to be made even strongly.

Waxman says that the Bush administration should have stepped in to help the Enron employees/shareholders as soon as they new the Enron ship was sinking.

Henry, Hello? Henry? What would you have the administration do? Put out a "SELL" recommendation on Enron? Call all the employees and tell them to SELL? At that point, who is going to BUY? And if someone did BUY, what's to become of them? At this point it becomes strictly a zero sum game.

In most things economic where you have the possibility of wealth creation and real growth, the RATS cling to the idea of the zero sum game when it doesn't apply. In this particular case when you really do have a zero sum game, they conveniently ignore that fact.

I sat in awe of Evans. What a great job he did of totally defusing Waxman. Hey Timmie, did you get it? ENRON shareholders had lost 90% of their money in August....Lay didn't call Evans till Sept 29, and everything he said to Evans was already common knowledge. Waxman's statement that the Bush administration stood idly by and did nothing for the poor ENRON people is so much hooey...Evans got that message out, loud and clear.

But truth to tell, I'm with you, 2 Kool, I would love more body slams from Bush people, especially applied to Waxman, but hey....President Bush meant what he said about no more business as usual in Washington. Us wise guys here on FreeRepublic can slash and burn the democrats all we like...it's cathartic....and it provides useful information to the lazyass media elite, let's em know we aren't at their mercy for background information....but President Bush and his people are not going to get down in the gutter with the likes of Henry Waxman.

Had Bush told them to sell - it would have been useless - the funds were frozen due to Enron's decision to change administrators of the 401k plan. Convenient as hell, I'd say!
