I'm the one who made the comment. I got my information from an ENRON press release that laid out the timeline and mentioned the specific change in the stock price during the lockout. Remember, ENRON would incur considerable liability if it were to deliberately release deceiving information at this stage. Also, this information was confirmed by Brooks Jackson's report, and can be found elsewhere among the financial press.
You, too, can find the facts - the WWW is great for smoking out the spin and uncovering the media bias.

Carville and Begala want to investigate Bush's relationship with Enron while he was governor? Fine and dandy, let's also investigate Clinton's relationship with Enron while he was president. If they have Carville and Begala out there, they must be really desperate. What a circus.

Thanks, but it appears that the steam may be going out on this one all on its own. Waxman no longer claiming that the Bush Admin improperly intervened on behalf of a major financial contributor, he is complaining that they didn't intervene to save the company. Strange approach, but if that's all you've got ...

He talks over your head, huh??
I think he's brilliant!! The best Treasury Secretary we've ever had! Our President didn't hire him because he can smooooooze the public. He hired Paul because he's smarter than most about financial things.

"Kristol says it will soon become evident the Clinton administration did more for ENRON than the Bush Administration"
And ... I guess we now know why Lanny Davis was telling the dems to lay off this issue.

I love the statement, "Clinton might be motivated"; that could open a whole can of worms. But, the Enron people are the ones who introduced Clinton to Riady - and we know how Riady motivated Clinton!

>>>>I am proud to say that I have not turned on the TV to political news since Friday afternoon. It would be great if all freepers did that
I think it would be greater if all Freepers watched, then called in to rebut their lies.

I was just thinking the same thing - but who will get the Presidential spot?? Both have huge egos - I can't see either one of them taking a back seat to the other.
Can you imagine having two more waffly, shifty, floppy back and forth people in office - I shudder at the thought.
What ever happened to real men! Oh, they're already in office - WHEW!

I think that the Dems will have to suck it up and lay off Enron for now, but I think that they are going to bring it up again. This will be about the time that GW wants to make inroads into partial privatization of SS. But I also think that GW is about 4 years ahead of their small minds.

I don't know what Biden is huffing and puffing about - Clinton did more recess appointments than any other President.

"that's what we're gonna get"
I believe the quote is, "OVER MY DEAD BODY".
Please don't be so negative! Get out there and get involved in your local political chapter; register voters, pass out flyers, etc. It will motivate you to stay hooked up with the Bush admin.

Aaaackkkkk! I just saw Liebermann on TV and he's wondering why the Federal government didn't warn people about the demise and protect shareholders from losing so much value!!!! Well, why didn't Big Bill tell me the NASDAQ was going to go from 5,000 to 1,600? Why didn't Big Bill tell us that the dot.commers were all just a joke with no business model and we shouldn't invest in them? Why didn't TIME magazine tell me that Amazon's stock was going down, down, down? Why didn't someone tell me? This is such a frickin' joke.

The news shows would be better if all interviewers were as direct and persistent about 'matters of consequence' as Brit. I try to never miss his shows.

Well, but in order to do that, they would have to dump the RNC and go independent. Do you think they would do that?? McCain had the opportunity last time, but he didn't take it - mainly because he knew if he changed parties, he would have to GIVE UP HIS POWER POSITION IN THE SENATE. Remember, that power position is important. If McCain goes independent, he loses that power - I cannot see him giving that up. His cancer is getting worse by the day, and he knows he doesn't have much time left.
When the word really gets around about the cancer, who on earth would elect him knowing he was going to die soon?? I think they'll put on a big show - but that's as far as it goes - they are both wimps compared to Bush - and they know it. They may have used the media against Bush before, but it won't work this time.

Conversely did This Week ever throw their very best crap at the Clinton Administration?? I think NOT!!We are in agreement.

I completely agree about Brit. I watch him everyday. Everyone else can take a hike - and that includes the other guys on FOX too, such as Bill O'Reilly.

>>> Us wise guys here on FreeRepublic can slash and burn the democrats all we like...it's cathartic....and it provides useful information to the lazyass media elite, let's em know we aren't at their mercy for background information....
Hooray for that idea! The loonie lefties are so well-organized they must have a great army lined up with prepared scripts to bash Bush on every C-SPAN call-in egment no matter what the subject... and Republicans are just too darned nice!

Bill Kristol always picks the wrong horse...his predictions never come to pass...his opinions are not respected, either by viewers or by fellow journalists. Yet...he continues to make a very good living getting paid to voice his take on things. Amazing!
