When Joseph Berardino took the top job at Andersen a year ago, his No. 1 priority was to move the blue-chip accounting firm deeper into the lucrative world of consulting.
That strategy seemed only natural for an industry veteran whose ascension came shortly after he took the public lead in fighting off a federal bid to limit the side work done by auditing firms. Regulators have long feared that Andersen and its brethren would go easy on audits to retain highly profitable consulting assignments, undermining the financial integrity of Corporate America.

Seems pro-Andersen. Isn't Andersen based in Chicago, Illinois? I suppose the same happens with the Houston papers when they report on Enron.

It is ironic that Berardino was to appear (along with guest speaker Bill Clinton) at the "World Leadership Forum", September 19, 2001, where he would lead a panel discussion on "Managing Change in a Globalized Economy". My, how the mighty have fallen.
