OMG that's funny! I remember those days. Felt kinda sorry for the 2 little "colored boys" that were the first in our school after the civil rights bill passed. Everybody knew there was gonna be an a** whupping. It was just a question of who was gonna do it. After that mandatory a** whuppin' though, things were pretty peaceful.

my first experience with northern bbq was in Binghamton, NY. I got a pig bbq sandwich, it was cold pork with some kind of sauce poured on it. Never again.

Now why, in heaven's name would any self respecting southerner want to do that. A lot of us have done our time out of the south and are thankful to be home.

C'mon nopes, you've been invading Southern threads to dump on Southerners ever since I've been here. We've been under invasion down here from the northern states for quite awhile. You bet there are hard feelings. Also, we were gulled into supporting the GOP and we're totally shut out of party policy making while being derided as hicks and inbred idiots.

You're wrong in saying that northerners don't come onto Southern threads talking trash. It happens on every single thread where we try to discuss Southern heritage issues. There is a group of Lincoln worshipping idiots who turn every discussion of Southern cultural issues into a slam fest.

If you don't like these threads, you have a funny way of showing it. if you didn't like this kind of topic, you would stay away. I think you get drunk and vent your spleen here.

Still the south. I forget what year Kentucky and Virginia became separate. My mama was from Virginia and my daddy from Kentucky so in my geneological research I have encountered that issue, but it was awhile back.

The best pizza I ever had was in Pineville, North Carolina at PizZarrelli on 51. The owner is from Naples via NYC and he got three Italian masons to build him a domed wood burning oven. The pizza though, was made by an old Tarheel boy who had perfected the dough and sauce with the help of the boss.

It's amazing to see the coals raked to one side of the oven, the hearth swept with a corn broom, and a huge pizza baked to perfection in about 6 minutes. I've had pizza in NYC that was terrible, pizza in Rhode Island that was very good, and pizza in Pineville that was outstanding. Good pizza is probably easier to find in NYC, but it isn't completely missing in the South either.

I spent 10 years in a small town in New York state, called Owego. I was really suprised when we moved up there that the people were so nice. It was friendly as any southern town I have lived in. The only major difference between Owego, and a small southern town was that the statue in the town square was a yankee soldier, and the snow. I was not pleased after the first time with snow.
