Yankhater, glad you finally joined up. You will get a kick out of this. Remember when Feldspar ordered rye bread at "The Dixie?" And we all held our breath waiting for Mary the waitress to rap his knuckles?

Feldspar was from Connecticut wasn't he? Didn't he order chile in June. Even though it is on the menu, everybody (except Yankees) knows you don't order chile in June at the Dixie. LOL

Great list! I saw a similar list, but it had one I'll never forget:

"If you move to the South, remember, you'll NEVER be a Southerner, and neither will your children...After all, if a cat had kittens in an oven, you wouldn't call 'em biscuits."

Y'all got a much better knowledge of Suthron Lit than I...please bump me to future threads--or past--wherein y'all go into more detail about Faulkner and other such geniuses.

No, I am NOT " defending " N.Y., nor any other state. I am saying that it does no good, for Southerners to bad mouth everyother place and its peoples. If these threads were solely for Souherners to talk about what it's like there, I would have no problem , whatsoever , with them. It is that these threads always start out with CONDEMNATION , name calling, and invectives against ALL others , that is so devisive, juvenie, and yes," silly ". No other threads, be they for and about people who have / do live in Chicago, Pa., N.J., Cal., New England, or any other place, have ever scapegoated / put down / condemned others . This is a fact . Go read those old threads for yourself, if you think that I am being disengenuous.

There was a New York thread, prior to 9 /11 /01, where people who didn't live there, posted that N.Y.C. should be blown off the map. No nonSoutherners come on these threads, and say such things . There have been Cal. threads, where others posted similarly nasty things. Again, no one comes onto " SOUTHERN " threads, and says the same. It is ONLY Southern FREEPERS, who continually post derrogatory things, about others.

If people are on FR, it is clear that THEY haven't voted for Hitlery, Davis, etc. ! This; however, never seems to ener the minds of those , who paint with a broad brush, and accuse entire areas, with which they usually have very little knowledge about, of invidious behaviors.

You explain to me, just what " GOOD " this incivility serves ; please.

"Lincoln's wife was a southerner"

People often forget that Lincoln himself was a southerner before moving to Illinois, born in Kentucky.

I'll have you know that I make a mean pizza, and it doesn't taste a thing like Domino's! Yuck! Okay, I'll admit that I honed that skill while living in Colorado, but being resourceful and adventurous I'd like to think I'd have done it sooner or later anyway.

You're probably right. I've been here for three plus years. Doubt I will shut up because you don't like me.
