The Democrats smell blood. The sharks are in the water and stalking their prey for the kill. Their primary target is of course, the highest rated president in American History, George W. Bush. What has aroused the attention of these D.C. bottom scavengers? The answer is simple... the bankruptcy of Enron Corporation. Democratic masters of political spin are salivating at what they hope to turn into a clintonesque problem child for President Bush. Before they do, they will have to invest some time in a political cover up and the severing of ties which they have with Enron. The week before Enron filed for bankruptcy protection, they gave a total of $100,000 to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. In fact, Enron has paid the Democrats almost 1.5 million dollars since 1989. One thing is clear, the Democrats certainly have ties to the pocketbook of Enron. Another interesting tie between Enron and the Democrats is attorney Robert Bennett. Bennett represented William the Impeached in his ill-fated battle with sexual harassment victim Paula Jones. The Jones case resorted in Clinton being convicted of perjury, paying a rather large fine, and being disbarred. This same Robert Bennett has been hired by - you guessed it, Enron Corporation. Bennett is shocked that anyone might see a connection between congressional inquiries and the payments. "It is very unfair to draw any improper motive based on these contributions," he said. "While the money was given in November, a large portion of it had been committed as far back as September." Would Bennett have us believe Enron was caught off guard by their own bankruptcy declaration? Even Robert Bennett is not that great of a great spinmeister.

$1.5 Million in quid pro quo is not THAT much. Besides, the Dems are for the little guy, you know, the little guy who has no money, power or influence and is as pure as angel dust, just like your hero, Clinton. So Dems would never take money from evil rich corporate jackals the likes of Enron! Right?
Get serious. The Dems smell opportunity, knowing the press will gleefully contribute to the hype. To have a scandal, you have to have a crime. The only crime at this point, appears to be with the auditors.
Where is the Dem braintrust when the Dems need them the most?
