I wish you guys hadn't gotten on the subject of Patton. While cruising around that web site, I came across a nice little Garand page there (Patton was a huge fan of the Garand), and am reminded that all I need to do to get a CMP Garand is fill out the forms and send in the check, having done the appropriate shoot and joined the appropriate organizations. Dang, better get to work scraping together that $500 (in the wake of Xmas/a basement buildout/game- and media- room purchases; been doing my part to get the economy rolling!)
