Covenant News ^ | 1/11/02

On Thursday, January 10, 2002, the White House reported President Bush signed the ominous $15.4 billion foreign appropriations bill, H.R. 2506, for fiscal-year 2002. The bill authorizes $446.5 million U.S. tax dollars to be given to other countries for abortion-family planning activities throughout the world. The abortion-family planning funds approved by Bush represents an increase of $21.5 million over last year for international family planning. Also on Thursday, Bush signed the labor, education and health spending bill, and a defense spending bill that was widely reported by The Associated Press (Bush Signs Defense Spending Bill).

I believe in education, but not in terrorism.

Therefore, I'm going to send a check to an Islamicist madrassa for "textbooks." My hands are clean.

If they are legal and have been here five years, that IS the law, you know.

If you think Keyes would approve of this bill, your geezerhood has overtaken you.

If you think I approve of this bill, you've jumped to the wrong conclusion. I just hate to see unbridled, blind hysteria among people who can supposedly check a source for themselves.

Unless, of course, there is good reason to take covenantnews at their word. They haven't yet earned my trust.

Digger,

There still are some Bush-diehards on this forum who think the president is a conservative. For the most part, they are Republican party ideologues caught up in superficial tit-for-tat politics. The fact that the Republicans are out-Democrating the Democrats and leading this country to disaster doesn't seem to bother them. Their philosophy seems to be, "Well, if this country's going to go to hell, we might as well do it at half speed." But there's just one problem: Under the Bush administration, we've been rushing at full-throttle towards a collectivist police state. Yet there are still so-called "conservatives" (in reality, they are globalist neo-conservative militarists) who steadfastly support Bush's lurch towards socialism.

I wish the phony conservatives on this forum would find another site to peddle their partisan Republican nonsense.

"I never expected to agree with every single thing George W. Bush did"

My reply addressed being decieved and lied to, so your above quoted portion is not apples to apples, as usual with apologists.

We're discussing some very important ethical matters that were Lied About in order to decieve the "Riligious Right" and obtain their votes. That's the line in this thread, Not every other lie jr. told to get their votes.

"Then argue against that, but don't rely on lies to make a point like this article does."

I've been arguing against the U.S. oligarchy's war against the poor and minorities for quite some time here on FR.

Just yesterday. And again. And here. And here. And here. And here. And here. Just within the last couple of weeks.

The Bush family has a long history in trying to breed out minorities, and I mention it almost every chance I get. It's disgusting that W and his family partner up with an American oligarchy that targets minorities, here and abroad, for subjugation so that they won't be able to compete with U.S. financial interests.

It's disgusting what the Bush family has done and is doing, whether they're using the CIA to run propaganda campaigns for sterilizations in Nigeria, or tying IMF loans to birth control, or appointing pro-death persons to cabinet positions. So, I have and will continue to argue against the aristocracy's assault on the poor and minority, but it's a little more egregious when it turns to outright killing defenseless babies, which our money is going to support. Parse this bill however you will. Money is fungible.

Very true. Thanks for putting me in my place (seriously).

I do, however, understand the need for increased funding for family planning (rhythm method, birth control, etc). Is that something you can agree to?

They don't want to read reply #27. They would much rather be hysterical, heartbroken, devastated and angry. Stop trying to reason with people, will you?

Not that I agree with the premise, but if it takes killing innocent babies to save this nation, maybe this nation isn't worth saving.

We should all take that advice to heart. They hate Bush and they are going to KEEP hating Bush, no matter what he does.

Yeah, sure, Bush is Pro Life ... Funny how his ACTIONS scream otherwise. Ole Bush really out did himself this time. The LARGEST amount of money EVER given to abortion activities throughout the WORLD.

It matters not to me since I will NOT be voting for Bush again no matter what he promises or says SINCE his words don't mean anything. Again, this is the latest proof.

You're right, of course. I responded to a similar comment by admitting I was wrong about the need for abortions in those countries. It is, however, frightening about the rate of growth of some of these countries.

I do, however, agree with the increase in funding for family planning, especially considering that this reflects a reinstatement of Reagan's Mexico City policy in which funding is prohibited for organizations providing abortions.

"You folks REALLY fear admitting that you've been decieved and lied to, don't you? "

Show us the exact statement that President Bush made that he knew at the time was false.

Unlike your vanity candidates who made impossible promises about what they would do if elected, President Bush always said that the abortion laws would not be changed until the hearts of the American people were changed.

I can't believe that some people were naive enough to believe the promise of Keyes, Buchanan, Bauer etc.. and now criticize President Bush for not doing what those fantasy candidates promised to do.

Read the bill, the article is a lie. The bill prohibits the money for abortion and pro-abortion groups, but hey lets not let facts get in the way.

Why don't we just cut to the chase and sign up the entire world for US welfare checks right now. While we're at it, let's get them some food stamps, voter registration, social security, college loans, and drivers licences too.
