Now, now, guys, both of you are making valid points, but I think that Joe is more correct to be outraged that intelligent and reasonable controls were not put in place regarding immigrants and foreigners. After repeated incidents, warnings, and American deaths, we still allow foreign nationals to obtain U.S. driver's licenses, which function as de facto "National ID's", as long as they have $50 and can fog a mirror.

With all of the trillions of dollars funding government functions, obviously (obnoxiously) protecting the citizens of the USA is the A#1 priority and duty of the government. We should have THE best security systems, operatives, and hardware available.

I think more attitudes like Joe's would help the situation, not hurt it. Currently terrorists and criminals are using our virtues against us; i.e. we are overly concerned about their rights (to the point that we keep inventing new "rights" for foreigners) because we believe so strongly in individual freedom and respect for Constiutional protections. Terrorists know this, and they've played us...

This must stop immediately!

Well, this is in the Constitution, doncha know? (And if it isn't, the Supremes or some appellates can write you a 2000 page opinion to say that it is!)

A small change in this area would go a long way, in my opinion. A foreigner driving a car would have to have an international driver's license (the way it works in other countries,) which would immediately identify him as a foreigner. Sorry, no driver's licenses for foreign nationals. A foreigner breaking US laws like Mr Atta when he was stopped should get his ass hauled to jail and be deported, not given a gentleman's court date far off in the future that he will likely ignore. All this, I think, is the trickle down effect of the OJ/Mumia criminal justice system. It's broken, it's not about justice, it's not about the citizens' safety, it's not about the country's security, it's only and entirely about itself!
