Davis and lawmakers face a $12.2 billion budget shortfall

Can you say "deflection?". Davis would much rather take the heat on the wire-tap laws than over his fiscal irresponsibilities. Wait until they see the shortfall from 2002! Ouch, they (we) are going to hurt badly. Bounce 'em out.

It sure is good to see Greyout Davis asking for even more power and authority, being as he has handled the power and authority he already has so very ably. It sure was impressive how he took a multi billion dollar surplus and turned it into a multi billion dollar deficit in just a few months! What leadership!< / sarcasm >

Just list this as another in a long list of reasons why I am so very, very grateful that I was able to escape from that state!

Hey, c'mon give the guy a break, he's got an election coming and Davis has to do a little opposition research.

Senate President Pro Tem John Burton, D-San Francisco, said he didn't see any need for the state to take action when the federal government already had done so.

"It's a waste of state resources," he said. "People are trying to make political statements instead of dealing with the problems of safety."

Burton told the truth??? Stop the presses!

Gov. Gray Davis wants to give state and local police broad new powers to obtain wiretaps and monitor e-mail,

Seigheil mein Meister, den wir befolgen und der Polizeizustand Ihres Kommunisten zu werden träumt

Translation:Seig heil my master we will obey and become the police state of your communist dreams
