I don't understand what is so hard to grasp for some. Criticism of the behavior of Alan Keyes would be the same if George Bush had never been born. Alan Keyes was pompous and condescending long before George Bush was president. He's just switched into high gear recently. I suppose that it's an easy way to justify it to say that Keyes critics are only so because they can't handle his treatment of Bush.

Much to their chagrin, Alan Keyes turns a lot of people off no matter what. Obnoxiousness generally saturates one's personality and is rarely exclusive to one given set of circumstances. I've noticed that his smug demeanor is always present.

Did you type that while looking at yourself in the mirror??

It is. I guess some people like it. Some people don't. Saying you don't seems to be akin to suggesting someone's mother is a streetwalker in this neighborhood. Lucky Alan Keyes - his protectors are certainly fierce, if nothing else.
