I don't know how to better phrase it than I did. Let's use the analogy of a good and poor teacher. One teacher may not be as brilliant as the next but the students learn most needed lessons well. His/her presentation serves to achieve the goal; teaching. Another teacher could wallpaper his room with degrees and have a remarkable storehouse of knowledge but the students are not willing to listen. No matter how much the instructor tries, his/her methods only reach a small percentage of the class. Again the goal is to TEACH. Which is more successful? Which appears to have the students welfare in mind?

Now I expect you will reply that Keyes is only trying to educate and speak his beliefs. But what is finally accomplished? If anything, more exposure to him in recent months has driven a lot of people away. Maybe, just maybe, his inflated ego has interfered and blurred the actual goal. If the proper goal is ignored or neglected, all is practically lost. Unless human nature has changed and I missed it, preaching to the choir produces nothing but stagnation.

The point is, if you are on Alan Keyes' side politically, don't tear him down. All it does is hurt our cause! In case you haven't noticed, quite a few of the Keyes-bashers are pro-choice. Liberals such as them like nothing better than to see conservatives eat their own. Our tendency to pick at one another over silly things is one of the main things that gets in the way of our agenda!

I don't care if Alan Keyes is arrogant (which I don't think he is, BTW); I stand with him ideologically, and I will do nothing to damage him because it only hurts our cause. I hope you are willing to overlook the things you don't like about him, and stand with all conservatives to get something good accomplished! We've got a lot of work to do.
