IDing him by phone might not have helped. The guy tried to fill out a standard form three times and could not get it right THREE TIMES. What would lead you to believe he would have gotten the answers right over the phone? This is not someone I would want on a plane with a gun.

Where do you come up with this political correctness bullshit? The pilot was an arragant bastard that was either too lazy or to stupid to check the agents credentials.

Utter nonsense. Secret Service guy fails to fill out correct paperwork three times, something as another poster pointed out, they probably do routinely.

This smells.

It sure does.............smells like a set up. A set up by some disgruntled j**ka$$ looking to score some easy money.

Apparently you had a (some) bad experiences with airline employees (I've read your posts on other threads.) That does not mean that this Captain handled this situation wrongly. It could be that he had the safety of HIS passengers and HIS plane as his priority. It doesn't really matter what transpired on the agent's previously scheduled flight. New flight, new captain, new responsibilities. All other reasons aside, the captain followed procedure concerning improperly or incompletely filled-out paperwork.

And where was the agent stopped: the ticket counter, the metal detector, or the gate? And if it was the latter, how'd he get by the first two? And what time did the agent arrive at the airport, because he should have arrived early enough to allow for thorough screening.

Not very good publicity for you American Airlines lovers but this armed agent boarded two American flights that day. He was checked by the police prior to the flight by three separate police officers who escorted him through security to the gate. When his first flight was canceled due to mechanical problem, the agent moved two gates over to another American Flight where all the prior customers were being shifted. He boarded that flight. Upon storing his caryon he went back to the cockpit to introduce himself to the 2nd Captain of the day. This captain upon seeing he was armed Arab-American claiming to be secret service agent asked him to deplane while they checked his identity. This he willingly did.

If you really think about this, American not only bumpbed a Secret SErvice agent off the flight, they allowed an armed potential terrorist on two of their flights in one day. That ought to make all Americans more comfortable about their flying safety.

You seem to have a bone to pick with American Airlines. Sounds personal.

Remember who made this public, NOT American Airlines.

Prove it. There were plenty of people at BWI that knew what happened or had observed all or part of it. You dont think an armed Arab-American at the gate claiming to be a secret service agent and arguing with the pilot and gate personnel, especially with MD police standing by, is not going to attract attention these days. Get real.

The agent says he went public with the new conference because American Airlines was putting out disinformation about the event. Note the info was on American Airlines website prior to the Agents news conference.

American seems to be goign out of their way to say that no profiling was occuring

As do most corporations in the US today. Thanks to the likes of Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and now, well, you.

Just like this flight. Five Arabs asked to leave the plane for further checking. But they claim they wern't racial profiling -- Right.

Where did this come from? Did you just make it up? This is new news to me.

I recall hearing the Agents lawyer during the news conference say that several other people that appeared to be of arabic or Shyk backgrounds were also asked to deplane to be questioned further. I dont know whether they were allowed to reboard or not.

What your reply suggests to me is that the USSS and the airlines don't seem to have a mutually agreed upon set of procedures to always be followed when an agent with a gun arrives for a flight. THAT is nuts

Thats one of the three goals the agent had for hiring attorneys: 1) apology, 2) standard procedure, and 3) reinstatment of his ability to fly on American. Currently he is banned for life.

More than likely it's just from the dislike of authority being exercised.

......and spare us the BS..........everybody with half a brain knows the magic words in America today to grab unearned money. It goes like this:

"I'm the victim of (race, gender, sexual orientation, blah, blah, blah take your pick) discrimination"

These people use this garbage to extort money from businesses and corporations as a way of life.

And it sounds VERY stupid to have carried that book onboard for all the rest of the passengers to see. Would you do that?

The book was not visible to other passengers. The flight attendent found it upon searching his carryon materials. The person sitting next to him who would presumably be the only person able to see what he was reading it, was not offended or excited by it. He is one of the witnesses that has come forward for the agent. Yes a college level history of the middle east is really scaryyyyyyy. BOOOOOOO. Did I scare you?

Just how many lives do you think Dave S would be willing to sacrifice upon the altar of Political Correctness? Would 300 be sufficient? Or 3,000? Or 3,000,000?

It's not the questioning of authority that's a problem to me (although I'll reiterate again that the pilot's goal is to get his passenger's safely to point B), it's this whining about hurt feelings that irks me the most. This smells like 2 year old trash.

I don't think any number suffices for some of them...............it's an attitude of, "Our agenda surpasses all other concerns, so what if we make the human race extinct in the process. We must not be proven wrong. Even if everybody dies, we don't care."

Typical liberal attitude.
