Yes! It's about time people started thinking and began to realize that this government is NOTHING without OUR taxes and OUR efforts. The government does not create wealth, it only takes it away and redistributes it, all the while incurring insane expenses for the costs of moving all of this wealth around.

I've been talking about the idea of a general strike by the productive citizens of this country for a while now, and it's good to see some other people pick up the ball and run with it.

You betcha, I'm going to be "on strike" those four days, and I encourage everyone out there to join this strike against our out of control federal government. It's time we showed our "masters" who the bosses are SUPPOSED to be. If a majority of Americans simply stopped working those four days I assure you we would have Washington's UNDIVIDED attention.

I don't know how to "ping"....if someone could do that for me...and to distribute this to EVERYONE they know..via emails, flyers, media, everyone must get involved and the government MUST BE INFORMED OF THIS ACTION.

If anyone is interested in helping NORA, they need to contact eagle@sierratimes.com.

LET'S ROLL IN AMERICA, TOO!!

A work stoppage to promote productivity?

This plays into the hands of the Democrats. Anything to further slow down the economy before the election helps them. You think you have problems now? Wait until the Democrats get control of the House.

Well, let's see. Letters to the editor don't work. Letters and phone calls to Congresscritters doesn't work. Peaceful demonstrations in the streets don't work. Ranting and raving on talk radio and on bulletin boards doesn't work. Short of considering all of those options traditionally categorized as "unthinkable", how else are "we the people" supposed to get our government to actually notice us and effect real change?

The issues being addressed here are very serious and very real, and the only action that our "representatives" have taken on these issues to date has been to make things worse. In fact, the more we complain about it, the worse they make it. How else are we supposed to get their attention? I don't have ten thousand dollars laying around to put in an envelope to send to my Congresscritter so that I can get their actual attention for ten minutes. I don't have the hundreds of thousands of dollars to back it up with so that I can keep their attention. Neither do you. So how else are "we the people" supposed to get them to pay attention to us?

Bump -- but hopefully this will not be necssary by the time desired since full comprehension of how the entire environmental movement is dead should be recognized now:

'Scientists' planted hairs from lynx in 3rd forest

Environmentalism is dead, pass the word.

Stop government funding to all 'environmental' efforts. It is not science it is a political agenda.

BTTT...thanks for the ping.

I would love to do this but the company only has me to do my job until I get the new guy trained in. Of course, if it is happening in April, I will probably have him trained in by then. I have taken 2 days leave without pay before and it didn't hurt, 4 days should be just as easy.

This is a representative republic. What makes you think your personal opinion of "real change" is any more or less valid than the other 1,999,999,999 opinions out there?

If 200,000 Americans did NOT pay their income taxes in April...Would the boys in the "Beltway" take notice..??

Put your demands/ideas/complaints/etc. on the 1040 form and mail it in..Minus the $$$...!!!
Tell them you WILL pay when (put whatever here)...

Message received, loud and clear. I had read this on ST earlier this morning. Sounds to me like a fine plan, a fine plan indeed. We need to keep the impetus up and get as many people on this as we possibly can. If we can actually get a large number of people to follow through on this, the effects would be devestating to the Pols.

Not only would it mean that the economy they depend on to leech their livelihood from would stop for four days, it also means they would recognize, finally, that We The People have managed to organize a movement of enormous size against them. Think that wouldn't frighten the spineless little oily lawyers who pretend to be our "leaders"?

I see you got your understanding of how our government works through your high school civics classes. Good for you for paying attention! However, the real world works somewhat differently that what you have been told. The sad truth is that our representatives have to raise tens of thousands of dollars every day to pay for their campaigns. As a result, only very well funded candidates ever see the light of day, or ever have a chance of running for office. Sure, there are occasional exceptions to the rule, but for the most part running for Congress is a big money proposition.

Now, as far as what I consider right vs. what the majority consider right, I challenge you to find any survey that shows that a majority of Americans want more immigration, or want our border policies relaxed, or want to live in a bi-lingual society. In fact the surveys and polls I've seen show a very, very different picture, with very serious majorities (usually around %80) supporting either reducing or stopping immigration entirely. This has been true for about twenty years now. During that time our elected representatives have instead opened the floodgates, stopped enforcing laws concering overstaying visas etc., drastically ramped up the H1-B program, and generally shouted to the world at large "come on in, the water's fine".

Now, whether or not you think mass immigration is a good thing or not, the simple fact remains that a very serious majority of citizens have been against it for a long time, and the more they have objected to it the worse the problem has become. Could it be that the interests of corporations and businesses that want cheap immigrant labor override the interests of us citizens who get to pay the bill for benefits for these new cheap laborers? Is it possible that money talks very loudly on Capitol Hill? How about in the mass media, where the vast majority of our public discourse takes place?

Sorry to burst your bubble, I know it is no fun to realize that pretty much everything you were taught is wrong. I used to believe in the system until I voted for prop 187 in California and saw it overturned by a federal judge. Apparently the Constitution says that I get to pay for unlimited benefits to unlimited numbers of illegal immigrants forever.Once you have understand how serious the situation is I think you may be able to understand why there are people calling for a general strike against the government.

Unfortunately, the age of instant popcorn and instant results has caused people to abandon an issue if they don't see instant change.

It took the Left decades to capture the culture and the media and it will take just as long to get it back. The Left never gives up, is never discouraged and never stops coming...no matter what. If the Right isn't made of equal stuff, we lose.

A "work stoppage" is "an event", not a solution or even part of a solution. It won't be covered by the press or noticed by voters. Re-capturing the media, plotting a rode back to the Constitution and never stopping is the only answer.
