Howard Stern, the wildly popular, drive-time radio host for New York's K-Rock, dressed down Sean Penn on today's broadcast for Penn's comments of earlier this week, when the actor compared Stern and Bill O'Reilly to Osama bin Laden and accused George W. Bush of not being thought-provoking or spirit-challenging.
Stern defended the President: "I ask you, what was the last thought-provoking, spirit-challenging movie Sean Penn made ... Fast Times at Ridgemont High? He's a failed actor."
He said that it is not George W. Bush's job to provoke people to thought [the President's job, as we all know, is to lead America in times when our spirits are challenged by adversity, not the other way around].
Stern was outraged that while there are families missing loved ones this holiday season because bin Laden killed them, Penn was busy making light of the subject through his comparison and criticizing Stern for "making poo-poo jokes."
Stern also asked who Penn thinks he's kidding, with his "alleged abuse of ex-wife Madonna, and open letter to Rupert Murdoch" [in which Penn cried because he wasn't allowed to use the Fox corporate jet to fly his family around the country].
"Why doesn't he use some of that scary paycheck of his" to do something beneficial, wondered Stern? "This is not a good guy," he added.
Howard's final words on the subject: "Sean Penn is an idiot, and that's the last thing I'm going to say about it."

It is things like this that make me more and more fond of Howard. Thanks, Howard, for putting Sean in his place.

I guess politics really does make strange bedfellows, because I too agree with Stern.
Of course, it is not so much agreeing with Stern as it is know that Sean Penn (and Alec Baldwin, Julie Roberts, Richard Gere, Rosie O'Donnell...my god I could run out of Pentium Power before I could name them all) is a TOTAL MORON!

WHO THE F@#& CARES WHAT ACTORS THINK!Amen, brother! Before something can be thought provoking, the perceiver must be capable of thought. Actors start beliving their on PR and think they are the characters they pretend to be. Except the conservative ones, of course. :-)

Artie is actually a better performer than Jackie. But the thing was, Jackie would write jokes on the spur of the moment and pass them to Howard who would tell them. And they were also very funny jokes.
Each guy had his stong points, I guess.

Bring back Jackie...he didn't barge in every five seconds with something...he let Howard do the barging.

So Howard is not an idiot when he asks women to get naked for him? This guy can say something very logical and inspiring sometimes and be a complete jackass the next.I still feel he degrades women to no end.Sure I understand these women want to do these things in front of him but why does he need to give them that forum? I'm cold on this guy and until he cleans things up I will never take him seriously at all about anything.

whatever hapened to jackie? I used to listen to the show but haven't for a long time.

Jackie turned down a reported 7 figure salary and staged one of his regular walk-outs until they upped the figure. This time Howard called his bluff. Jackie now spends his time whining that they won't let him have his job back, and picking up a couple hundred bucks for a set at the local Chuckle Hut.

howard is right more often than you'd think. unless you listen a few times a week you'll never understand what he's about. he's a very smart man and if the show gets too raunchy, turn the dial. he's never been afraid to criticize or endorse a candidate because of political party. there is no one who does as great a job as stern with the help of robin, fred, bababooey, artie, benjie, and that cute little stud KC. jackie is missed but it was his choice.
