Howard Stern : 'Sean Penn is an Idiot'

Howard Stern, the wildly popular, drive-time radio host for New York's K-Rock, dressed down Sean Penn on today's broadcast for Penn's comments of earlier this week, when the actor compared Stern and Bill O'Reilly to Osama bin Laden and accused George W. Bush of not being thought-provoking or spirit-challenging.

Stern defended the President: "I ask you, what was the last thought-provoking, spirit-challenging movie Sean Penn made ... Fast Times at Ridgemont High? He's a failed actor."

He said that it is not George W. Bush's job to provoke people to thought [the President's job, as we all know, is to lead America in times when our spirits are challenged by adversity, not the other way around].

Stern was outraged that while there are families missing loved ones this holiday season because bin Laden killed them, Penn was busy making light of the subject through his comparison and criticizing Stern for "making poo-poo jokes."

Stern also asked who Penn thinks he's kidding, with his "alleged abuse of ex-wife Madonna, and open letter to Rupert Murdoch" [in which Penn cried because he wasn't allowed to use the Fox corporate jet to fly his family around the country].

"Why doesn't he use some of that scary paycheck of his" to do something beneficial, wondered Stern? "This is not a good guy," he added.

Howard's final words on the subject: "Sean Penn is an idiot, and that's the last thing I'm going to say about it."

Ditto! When I first heard about this little dust-up, I thought, "Who gives a flip what Sean Penn thinks?" Upon further reflection, my thoughts are "Who give a flyin' flip what Sean Penn thinks?" I don't particular care for Howard Stern, but I do admire the fact that he didn't pussyfoot around with his opinion of the little dirtball.

Like I said on another thread about this, Stern's tv ratings, for the record, have been in the toilet lately, and I'm sure he would love to have Sean Penn on as a guest. Recently several markets cancelled Stern's tv show.
