as are those who wave Confederate battle flags with feeling of nostalgia for the days of bondage and misery for large blocks of their fellow human beings.

i agree with your post with this exception...

there are some (and i'm in the west, not south) who fly the battle flag as an act
of solidarity with the meaning behind the 10th amendment, not racism.

i think your blanket condemnation of the flag is somewhat off center.

and yes, i understand this is a volatile issue to some.

Believe it or not, there are Black people who wave it too, because they are the descendents of Black soldiers (Free Men, if I'm not mistaken) who served in the Confederate Army). It was a strange and sad war, and a lot of the country's ills can be traced back to it.
