Ali was good, and I rate him as one of the two or three best pure athletes ever to earn his living by boxing; but that isn't the same thing as being one of the great prize fighters of all time. I wouldn't give Ali more than seven or eight rounds in a fight with Joe Louis. Real super prizefighters like Joe Louis or Roberto Duran have serious power in both hands; Ali never really appeared to have a punch with his left hand which he could hurt people with and he never really looked comfortable with the idea of moving forward.

Yeah - but what do you think of Rocky Marciano?? 49-0 record, defeated Joe Louis (although Joe was making a comeback at 37). Still, I think he's underrated as far as the heavyweights go.
