This month, San Francisco became the first US municipality to accept the cards for city and county programs, ranging from applying for small business loans to filling prescriptions at pharmacies in San Francisco County's public hospitals, said P.J. Johnston, spokesman for Mayor Willie Brown of San Francisco. Huh?

Im a little confused. Are these people not in your country illegally and therefore committing a crime? Why do the police ignore this?
Seems to me US authorities have gone PC mad. Even in the face of a serious threat to their national security.

GOOD> I hope a lot of illegal immigrant 3rd worlders cram and jam into San Francisco. Fine by me. I hope all kinds of new illegal additions to houses are built to accommodate them. The Chinese are masters at this scam.

Including Herrera, three of Austin's four homicide victims in 2000 were illegal immigrants, police said.I love how the PC crowd selectively uses statistics.
What they don't tell us is how many of the four killers were illegal immigrants.
Wonder why?

You know, when I break a law, for some reason the police don't seem as sympathetic.

The fact is the police neither "protect" or "serve" we, the people.
The police protect and serve the politicians.

The Chinese are masters at this scam. You speak the truth. Once, when I lived in a large urban centre in an apartment building, there were certain 2 bedroom units that contained up to 20 or so Chinamen.
A little Chinese boy got lost one day and I had to return him to his apartment. I could not believe the squalor and overcrowding there.
But it was easy to understand how his parents had lost track of him in that mob of humanity.
These people live cheap, and work cheap, and our lowering our standard of living.

If I were living in a foreign country, say Korea, I would expect the same sort of police protection and service as given to Korean nationals.
However, I would not expect to vote in Korean elections, send my kids to Korean schools at public expense, receive Korean welfare, or receive other rights afforded only to Korean citizens.
If I were working illegally in Korea and got into an automobile accident, I would hope the police officer would send me to an emergency room before sending me to jail. However, I would be at the mercy of Korea's laws and would understand that I was running that kind of risk by working illegally there.

"Protect and Serve" should be for all humans, but "Deport or Prosecute" should be happening to illegals as that is the "Protect and Serve" the police owe to citzens and legal immigrants.

Maybe they'll have to make it a hate crime if you rob an illegal alien but not if you're a citizen. But then it can only be a hate crime if it's a citizen committing the crime.

Austin only had four homicide victims in 2000?

We had a wealthy lady here killed by illegals. In a way it was her fault becuase she had knowingly hired an illegal maid and the maid brought her boyfriend to the house, they robbed and killed her. Better those who bring criminal aliens into this country are killed by them than innocent people.

It's not our job to deport anyone, or report them to INS,'' said Assistant Police Chief Rudy Landeros Interesting. I wonder how the Austin Police Department decides which laws to enforce and which ones to disregard?
[A]cceptance of the Mexican ID cards has had the added benefit of freeing police to fight crime rather than spend time identifying undocumented workers [illegal aliens].
Just think how much time theyd have to fight crime if theyd just decide that investigating murders wasnt their job and cease all those cumbersome investigations.
Someone else said it, but you can drastically lower crime by making everything legal. This seems to be the operating principle at work in Austin. Surprising this is happening in Texas. Youd think this type of thing would be limited to Berzerkly or MADison with their loony college liberals. Oh, wait, wheres the University of Texas
?

I've got mixed feelings.
There is a basic problem with other nationalities being here illegally. That needs to be straightened out, but the solution to the problem is maybe longer term and more complex.
Given that they are here, there is the problem that some of them prey on others. The solution to that problem is shorter term. Get the predators off the street. If giving a break (in terms of not turning them over to the INS) to a gainfully employed illegal helps do that, maybe I can live with it.
Also, I would not like it if an illegal was too afraid of being turned over to the INS to inform authorities about a suspicious persion (read potential terrorist) with whom they may have crossed the border or otherwise come in contact with on the edges of society.
The whole thing is a mess, and like I said at the start, I have mixed feelings.

Some 47 percent of last year's robbery victims were Hispanic, who make up 28 percent of the population. If you want to lower crime, try reducing the Hispanic population from 28% to .28%. That will solve the problem!!
