I bet I'm not the only one who has faced these questions, and I know there is recent Freeper experience with cruising, so I'm confident I'm in good hands when I seek advice here. Thanks!

Going on a Caribbean Cruise! Help! Sheesh - I just won the Powerball Jackpot! HELP!!!

I heard they still have pirates in the Caribbean. For real! Off of Belize. Good luck!

The formal night is generally the captains dinner and is generally quite formal. The rest can be what is sometimes referred to as "business casual."
BTW, I'm green with envy....

The same cloths you wear when going to church will be just fine for the formal evening.

It's my favorite ride at Walt Disney World!

I hate it when people wear "cloths" to church. It's so much more appropriate when they wear clothes.

I'm slow. What is considered 'business casual'?

Take a barefoot cruise next time. Shorts all week long and totally informal.

Slacks, polo shirts, etc. The girls can wear nice pants - no jeans. If it were a cruise to someplace less "casual" by nature (the Caribbean), you might find that ties are required, but not where you're going!

Sounds simple enough to me. That's what we'll do once the kids are safely stashed at college! (If we have any money left!)

This sounds great. My husband doesn't own very many 'dress-up' clothes anymore since the workplace started dressing down a few years ago. Lots of Dockers and polos in the closet, though!

On formal night, for the men, suit and tie, or suit jacket, tie, and dress slacks are fine. Ladies will want to dress up a bit-very dressy dress or gown, but don't go "overboard" here( no pun intended). The idea is to HAVE FUN!.
For other nights, nice slacks and a polo shirt are fine. Don't worry, with all the new sunburn being sported all the way around, people don't get overly dressed for dinner.
If you have the second seating, that's best--you get to do daytime stuff longer and don't have to get to dinner earlier.
BTW--the kids will love cruising. My kids still talk about it nine years later!

When I went on a Royal Caribbean cruise a couple of years ago there were people that wore shorts and t-shirts during the formal evening dinner. Most just wore slacks and a decent shirt, almost no tuxes or ties. Just wear whatever you feel comfortable in, they don't seem to care.

annie,
"I hate it when people wear "cloths" to church" we're a "primitive church"...but we're catching up...see ya @the captain's table;
oh, color doesn't matter does it? as long as the cloth is "large enough"?

What does your Cruise line say about the events/dress? Or your booking agent? I'd suspect they have ready made answers as I suspect they get this question many times... What I say or others say may not be approiate for the particular Line you are going on.

Oh BTW, tThe first and last nights onboard are always casual (again no jeans or shorts) for obvious reasonsyou may not have your luggage before dinner that first night and you've already packed for home on the last night.

Royal Caribbean is the cruise line we are on. We got an unbelieveable deal back in early November. Our airfare was more than the cruise!

large, small, plaid, stripes....it's all starts one down the path to legalism, right?
