I kinda wish NewsMax would leave this stuff alone. The fact that an adult is drinking is hardly news, even if said adult is Chelsea Clinton. Conservatives complain that the press won't leave the Bush daughters alone, but don't hold themselves to the same standards.

The problem is that the press did not leave the Bush daughters alone. If the press is going to behave that way towards Bush, it ought to do the same for the Clintons, whatever conservatives or liberals say. It is a matter of consistency.

Agreed. The Bush girls didn't deserve it and neither does Chelsea (as much as I despise her parents.)

That is NOT a double standard. Chelsea Klinton stepped over the line when she was railing against President Bush's tax cut in a magazine about her 9-11 story. She is fair game now. The Bush daughters have done none of that.

I agree with you. It once was fun to catch Chelsea in a compromising spot, but since 9/11,
she has joined her father on the growing list of things now irrelevant.
This article is irrelevant, and so is Chelsea.

I agree with your post 100%
(One of the reasons I no longer read NewsMax)

Wouldn't bother me if this thread were yanked.

What's your lining, Nittanyboy-or-girl?
And drop this 'lion' because I'm the one by my astrological sign, and am ashamed to have relatives like you.

No, I think it was printed to make a point: That kids of a certain age will drink, and people should have laid off the Bush twins. Now if the conservative press starts running front-page photos of Chelsea drunk and starts making Chelsea drunk jokes in their magazines, then that would be hypocritical.

I guess Newsmax has to sell those copper magnetic bracelets and so they publish this tabloid trash.

While I agree the press and the Taliban wing of the Dem party were too hard on the Bush children, I don't see the point of hounding this adult for tieing one on - as long as she didn't break the law, leave the Clintonspawn alone.

I agree. There are lots of reasons not to like the Clintons, and plenty of legitimate ways to bash them. I don't have any feelings one way or the other about Chelsea Clinton, other than I pity her.

She's not attractive. She is sensitive to criticism of her parents. She's going through a fairly common stage of partying that shouldn't be unfamiliar to many college families.

The 9/11 story stretched credibility, but that was more than likely orchestrated by her mother...for political gain.

There's a lot more to pity than there is to dislike.

"She loves a good time, but everything seems to revolve around drinking."

If I recall, when GW Bush was younger, he liked to have a good time and he liked to drink too. Besides, since when was drinking a lot and have a good time illegal. It's not like she committed perjery, bribery, witness intimidation, possibly blackmail, tax evasion, insider trading, s&l fraud, commodity insider trading, campaign fraud, campaign funding abuse and lawbreaking, illegal use and reuse of govt. property, selling state secrets, obstruction of justice, destroying evidence or treason like her mom and dad has done.

I don't think this is a big deal.

Since the media spent years telling us how perfect Chelsea was and what a wonderful job of parenting brought that about I see no reason to protect those who printed the lie to help their pal.

I could care less too, but I am interested in whether or not she still has secret service assigned to her. Once again the media concentrates on the wrong subjects. Chelsea deserves privacy in her personal life...and we deserve an accounting of how much of that personal life we are still paying for.

I'll second your comment. She hasn't been busted so far, unlike others. Leave the daughters alone.

You know better than to paint a broad brush like that in this forum. LOL

When I read stuff like that article all I can think is thank God my father isn't a politician.

I agree. By the time I was her age, I had outgrown this. I would expect a graduate student to behave differently. But, when I was in a student abroad program in England as a junior, drinking was quite the hobby. (Not for me.) I thought I moved into Animal House. It was wilder than anything I had seen at my home school -- and I went to USC which is known to be a party school. British college students are just wilder.

I agree. I'm sure glad no one was following me around when I was Chelsea's age.

If this kid enters politics some day she is fair game for this stuff. Until then, the media needs to back off. It ain't none of their or our business.

I agree with you. Leave Chelsea Clinton alone. Going out and enjoying life is hardly news for any twenty something. Consuming alcohol is not a big deal when you are out on the town. Some of these anal retentive reporters need to find something to do.

While she might be out of control even when sober, a publicly drunken young celeb and future politician is newsworthy. We need to know if she had blueberry pancakes today as well.
