It has nothing to do with the silly point this author is making, but although I find the Harry Potter books amusing and basically innocent, and am happy to have my kids read them, Freepers should know that Philip Pullman's "Golden Compass" trilogy is virulently anti-Christian. Whether or not your kids should Harry Potter is pretty much a matter of personal choice; but Christian or Jewish parents should steer their kids away from Pullman, IMHO. The whole point of Pullman's trilogy is that God doesn't exist and/or that He is a tyrant Who needs to be killed.

I know nothing of Pullman, but I appreciate the info. In light of this, it's telling that Cupitt thinks that Pullman doesn't go far enough. A chilling indicator.
